AUGUST 17, 2014 - PETITCODIAC - 22BR SHOOT - RESULTS

The night before a shoot, as you are getting your gear ready for the next morning, your hopes are high thinking about the fun you'll have, the friends you'll see again and the shooting you will do. Then as you fall asleep you think positive thoughts and rehearse your shooting routine - and you even allow a fond thought or two about shooting a perfect target and perhaps of winning the match. Well for 3 New Brunswick shooters this became a reality today. Congratulations go to Darryl K. who shot a perfect score of 500 and 22Xs; Sandy MacL. with a perfect score and 20Xs and to George M. with a perfect score and 14Xs. These guys couldn't stop grinning and the praise was well deserved. Welcome to the exalted Petitcodiac 500 Club.
Today conditions were OK - overcast all day with occasional showers and temperatures in the 14C to 19C range - (wow - this is still August!). The wind was a bit tricky at times but generally fairly gentle - in the 8 to 12k/hr range. The first relay had almost no wind at all but by the middle of the second relay a steady wind with some little gusts developed. This persisted for most of the day with almost no wind again during the third to last relay. Then it picked up again with stronger emphasis. As is usual for the Petitcodiac Range, flags showed winds from many different directions. This writer obviously did not pick the right flags to watch!!
Thanks to everyone for helping out at the range today. We were overwhelmed by treats consisting of Banana Muffins to die for, Banana Bread to live by, Squares and Marshmallow treats and a box of Timbits - those who shot well must have over-indulged. Thanks go to John (and Mrs.) McC., Shelly C., Barb J. and Dan G. Thanks also go to Volker T. who was the Match Director and scorer - together with Martin T. as verifier. Thanks to Dan G. and Darryl K. who were the RSOs. A group of fellows handled the target changing duties even when it was raining. Thanks to Dan G., Brian P., Tom N. and John McC. Oh . . . and Dan G. cut the grass! Thanks Dan. Those who did not shoot well enjoyed the view!
