MAY 26, 2019 - PETITCODIAC CF BENCHREST - RESULTS

Boy what a switch in weather!  Yesterday was warm and bright and sunny. Today was .  .  well, miserable. It was cold to the point that we huddled around the stove from time to time. Our spring jackets were barely warm enough. It rained all day (funny though, as soon as we finished the match the rain stopped for a while), and at one point the sound of the rain almost drowned out Don's 30BR!!

The only thing that seemed to be to our benefit was the wind which remained predictable and quite mild during the entire match. Sometimes it appeared that there was no wind at all that we could see but there was a slight tendency for the bullets to be pushed to the left - just enough to cause a 10X to become a 10, (or a 10 to become a 9).

The match director for this match was Dan G. who also took the responsibility for scoring the targets. John McC. did the verification of scores and calculations. The Range Officers were Dan G., John McC. and Bert deV. Targets were set up and changed by Dan G., Mike C., Brian P., Bruce B., Malcolm McA. and John McC. Shelly's wonderful treats were brought by Tony L. Thanks to everyone who helped out - especially those who went out on the range during the heavy rains.

MAY 25, 2019 - MINTO - NEW BRUNSWICK RF BENCHREST TEAM SHOOT - RESULTS

It was a beautiful warm day in New Brunswick for our annual Rimfire Benchrest Team Shoot. What an amazing thing to be in late winter or early spring with no bugs, stiff wind,
cold temperatures and rain two days ago and today everything is turned around 180 degrees with bugs, heat, little wind and bright sunshine today. Even if there was little wind, this is in comparison to other days' shooting in Minto. Yes, there periods of total, or what
looked like total calm but on the whole the wind could exact about 1 MOA of wind-drift from center - hardly  "no effect conditions".

There were two clubs represented - Petitcodiac and Minto  - each fielding a team of maximum size out of which the four best scores would comprise the team score. Since two targets of 20 counting shots were shot, the maximum individual score was 400/40X. The highest possible team score was 1600/160X. All shooting was done at 100yd. with "Open Class" rules.

Minto, being the host club, provided all the targets, manpower, and a meal of delicious hot-dogs cooked by David C. who also brought drinks and cookies. The Match Director duties were shared by John McC. and David C. The head scorer was Don M. from Minto and the score verification was done by Charles McQ. from Petitcodiac. The Range Officers were David C., Matt McA. and Bert deV. Targets were set and changed by Ben F. with help from George M., Mike C. and Bert deV.
Congratulations go to Team Petitcodiac for winning this year's Rimfire Team Shoot and also to John M., Team Petitcodiac's and the day's top shooter.

MAY 12, 2019 - PETITCODIAC RIMFIRE BR - RESULTS

It was a really lovely sunny day as we followed the Saint John river out of Fredericton to head to Petitcodiac. The flooding had subsided so we were able to drive on our usual roads
which lead to the TransCanada. We enjoyed the drive so much that we ended up going at such a pace that we were the last to arrive and shot in the third relay. A good number of shooters, 16 in fact, showed up this Mother's Day to enjoy the camaraderie and
the competition.
The sun stayed with us during the entire match. It was so nice to feel it's warmth and light. It also stayed quite windy during the entire match with a pre-dominance of tailwind switching to cross winds. The changes were more rapid and unpredictable during the early relays which made some shots a bit of a disappointment. Some shooters saw a nice little hole 2 or 3 rings out of the bull while others were very very relieved to have the hole touching the 10 ring.
We witnessed some pretty good shooting despite the conditions with Gerard D. shooting a perfect 500/24X. Bert deV. came second with 500/23X while Cecil H. followed with 500/18X. Congratulations fellows!
Today, Volker T. enjoyed the responsibilities of Match
Director and head scorer with Dan G. and John McC. verifying the scores and stats. Range Officers were Bruce B., Darryl K. and Dan G. Targets were set and changed by John McC., Cecil H., Chris S., George M. and I may have missed a few other who made the walk in the warm sun. Many thanks to all of you for your help today - and to the only mother who was present, Barb J., many, many thanks for the wonderful sweets and a happy mother's day to you.

MAY 5, 2019 - MINTO - 22 RIMFIRE BR. - RESULTS

It was a lovely morning for a shoot in Minto - probably the nicest day of 2019. The sun was out and it was bright and warm. In the morning it was still a little cool with some frost on the car, but the temperature rose to 24C by the afternoon - the first really nice and warm day in New Brunswick.

During the first relays, the wind was mostly from the right and very predictable but during the rest of the match it switched and came from all over the range. This was a bit of
challenge for some of us who had not practiced a lot in the windy weather earlier this year.

Despite these conditions, or maybe because of them, several shooters shot perfect targets with David C. and Mike C. tied at 400/18X. Gerard D. shot a 400/16X. Congratulations to all.

Don M. took on the lion's share of tasks being the Match Director, and head scorer. Guy H. helped verify the scoring while Matt McA., Dale H., Bert deV., David C. and John McC. served as Range Safety
officers. David C. brought the treats and Ben F., Shawn R., and Mike C. changed the targets. Thanks to all for helping out today - it made the shoot run smoothly so it was enjoyable for all.
