SEPTEMBER 29, 2019 - PETITCODIAC CF BR CHAMPIONSHIP - RESULTS

It was a lovely fall day for the Centerfire Championship shoot in Petitcodiac with temperatures of 11C in the morning and maybe about 13C in the afternoon. The sun was
bright all day with only a few clouds here and there. The wind, throughout the day, was relatively mild although maybe a little cool. The dominant winds were from the left and also a tailwind down the range. Today, maybe more than other
days, the wind was different on the left and right halves of the range - probably due to the tree line on the right.
We missed several shooters who would normally have been there but who "called in sick". We missed you guys. It was nice to see John McC. shooting again after a long recuperation from his operation. John is looking much better and has not lost a bit of his shooting talent and skill.
Today, Dan G. was the match director and head scorer with Shelly C. verifying the scores and stats. Dan G. was also the Chief Range Safety Officer with Bert deV. lending a hand with the second relay. Targets were set and changed by Shelly C., Malcolm McA., Bruce B., Cecil H., Tony L., John McC. and Bert deV. Darryl K. was the photographer. Thanks to everyone who helped out today.
Because today was a championship shoot, John C. had arranged for a lunch at the clubhouse between the second and third relays. We all broke for a nice lunch of sandwiches and Shelly's wonderful squares.
After the match was over, we returned to the clubhouse for the presentation of the awards which began with honouring Dan G. for some very fine records in Centerfire shooting this season. He shot both the high single target with a score of 100/10X and the high match score with a score of 300/25X. Congrats Dan!
Then came the presentations for the top three shooters of this championship match. Congrats to Malcolm McA. for shooting the only 300 of the day with a score of 300/19X. Bert deV. came second with 299/13X and John McC. followed with 299/12X.

SEPTEMBER 22, 2019 - MINTO - 3rd ANNUAL TERRY MCNEILL CHAMPIONSHIP - OPEN CLASS RESULTS

The first of the Minto Gun Club championship shoots was held today with many shooters from the southern parts of the province attending. The Terry McNeill Rimfire Championship commemorates our good shooting friend and hard worker on behalf of Minto shooters - Terry McNeill.

The conditions for this championship were excellent. Temperatures started out quite cool (around 4C) when we headed down the road. By the time the shooting was done it had risen to 27C - wow! what a difference. Any jackets worn in the morning were long gone in the afternoon and shady spots and cool drinks were in high demand.

The wind was definitely present during the whole of the match with the dominant winds being from the left (although plenty of time it was from any other direction on the compass). The strength of the wind ranged from "quiet at times" interspersed with with left-to-right winds (mostly in the morning) to "very vigorous" and from all directions (mostly in the afternoon when the range had warmed up). It was a tricky wind and a shooter was rewarded for waiting for his conditions to return - even if the wait was a long one (in the afternoon, a secondary condition in which to shoot was also a good tactic).

Today we had a very well organised match thanks to match director Don Mu. with the assistance of David C. Don also did the scoring with David helping with the scoring and the stats.

The targets were changed by Ben F. and Shawn R. for most of the match. Dan G., Volker T. and Mike C. also helped when these fellows were shooting. Because we used the benches inside the shooting building for the open class shooters, and the benches outside for sporter class shooters, double the Range Officers were needed to run the match safely. A good number of people stepped up to help including Mike C., Dale H., Darryl K., Barb J., Conrad L., Matt McA., Wayne K., George M., Dan G., Volker T., Gerard D. and Bert deV.

And finally, what is a championship shoot without good food? Barb J. brought her lovely cinnamon bread and David C. brought the drinks and the hot-dogs which were expertly cooked by Bruce B.

Many thanks to all who helped out today - this Championship could not have gone so well without your help.

SEPTEMBER 15, 2019 - PETITCODIAC CF BR - RESULTS

Today was the last centerfire BR shoot of the regular season for Petitcodiac. It is almost unbelievable that the year has gone so quickly. The next shoot will be the final. Some shooters used this opportunity to make sure they qualified for the final shoot while others did some testing of loads or calibers. One fellow tried out his new 6.5mm Creedmore while others tested a new powder or a new bullet (without the hoped for success - go figure).

This was also the shoot that saw John McC. return after his operation.  He is doing very well indeed and is gaining a little weight. It was very nice to see John and he (like riding a bicycle he said) made short
work of the competition with a very nice score of 300/14X. Congrats to John and it sure is nice to see you back on the firing line. Kudos also to Volker T. who shot a 300/11X and to Malcolm McA. who shot his first 300/10X and earned his Petitcodiac 300 Club badge. It was a very nice time for all who were there.

Today, Volker T. was the match director and the head scorer. Dan G. was the score and stats verifier. Targets were set and changed by Shelly C, Bert deV., Bruce B., Cecil H., John McC., Brian P., Mike C. and Malcolm McA. The ROs were Bruce B. and Bert deV. Shellly brought her super-duper treats which were gone shortly after the second relay. Thank you to all who lent a hand today.
