JUNE 28, 2017 - FLORENCEVILLE - CF BR and CF PRONE - RESULTS

It was a very grey and wet day when we left for Florenceville. On the way there, we watched some black clouds roll in and witnessed thunder and lightning as well as downpours in the direction of the range. When we got there it was
raining but after waiting a little, it stopped, the clouds broke up, the sun came out and the winds settled down. Temperatures were in the mid-teens and the wind was light from left to right on the 200m range.

Jean S. was the match director while Ash P. and Don M. served as Range Safety Officers. Targets were changed by Ash P., Greg S., John McC., and Bert deV. Scoring was done by Ash. P, Bert deV. and Greg S. There were two classes - Ash P. and Bert deV. shot MTR prone while Greg S., Greg R., Don M. and John McC. shot BR rifle. All shooting was done at 200m.

RESULTS - MTR PRONE:
Ash P. - 89/1X + 89/1X + 91/3X = 269/5X
Bert deV. - 83/0X + 88?0X + 94/3X = 265/3X

RESULTS - CENTERFIRE BR:
John McC. - 88/0X + 86/1X + 93/2 = 267/3X
Greg S. - 78/0X + 90/0X + 93/1X = 261/1X
Don M. - 81/1X + 84/2X + 93/1X = 258/4X
Greg R. - 84/1 + 80/0X + 67/0X = 231/1X

JUNE 25, 2017 - PETITCODIAC - 22BR and SPORTER - RESULTS.

Thanks to John McC. for sending this write-up and to Darryl K. and Barb J. for sending the pictures.
Hello bench rest shooting enthusiasts!
June 25th 2017 was a wonderful summer day at the Petitcodiac Sportsman's Club ranges with lots of sun, fun, dog flies, good friends, horse flies, loads of treats, black flies and of course wind. Unpredictable wind! Wind that blew down the target stands! Wind that turned our full field of sun flower spinners into blurs of yellow!  And winds that blew bullets all over the targets. Still, and not withstanding all this, some very fine scores were produced.
Today we had 15 shooters with 4 doing double duty in the Sporter division!
The framework and roof of the warming building addition was quickly put to use as a cover deck and was enjoyed by all. It was great to see Carl J. soaking up the sun on the deck today!

The wonderful treats were produced and brought by Shelly C. and Barb J. There was more than enough to go around for sure. Of course that might have also been the fact
that Don M. was missing from today’s event??? ☺
Volker T was the very capable match director and scorer with John McC and Darryl K verifying the scores. Targets were changed by Brian P, Cecil H, Dan G, John McC. and George M. A special thanks to Tony L. for repairing the target stands back to usable condition before the shoot. He definitely has some more wind damage repairs to do now. R.O. duties were carried out by Dan G and Darryl K. Good job guy’s!
Thanks to everyone for coming out and lending a hand.
See y’all next Sunday in Minto!

JUNE 24, 2017 - FLORENCEVILLE 22 BR and SPORTER - RESULTS

Saturday started out as a pretty dismal day with sticky fog and a bit of rain. The drive up to Florenceville was pretty much that way. We arrived at the range in good time where almost everyone was there. We received a warm welcome and started to get ready for the shoot as the rain increased. At times it was thunderous on the roof so that the RO had to shout to be heard. It stayed wet and humid all day with temperatures in 20C range - until the end of the matches when it stopped raining and the sun came out. Go figure! The drive back down the highway was clear and sunny as was the rest of the day at home.
The Match Director was Jean S. She did a wonderful job of organizing the match and relays. Targets were set and changed by pretty well everyone there but special thanks to Ash P. who changed targets during the rain as he had a raincoat. Ash P. and Raymond G. were the Range Safety Officers. The scorer was Greg S. with Ted S. verifying the scoring and stats. Jean also did some final calculating of stats. John McC. had brought some of Dorothy's wonderful chocolate chip cookies which were devoured by all. Thank you to all who helped out today to make this a very enjoyable event.
We shot 3 relays of both Open and Sporter class target rifle. The Open class was done on the USBR 25 bull target shot at 50m - this target is challenging compared to others we have shot but will make us better X-ring shooters in time (we hope). The High Possible Score is a 750/75X. The Sporter class consisted of 60 rounds on a generous 50yd smallbore rifle target also shot at 50m. High Possible Score here was 600/60X.

RESULTS - OPEN CLASS:
Bert deV. - 708/11X
Greg S. - 708/8X
Jean S. - 696/6X

JUNE 11, 2017 - PETITCODIAC CENTERFIRE BR - RESULTS

A hot and very changeable day in Petitcodiac was the setting for a terrific Centerfire BR shoot. The morning started out with no wind and temperatures around 15C. It was cloudy on the highway to the range and we did receive a few raindrops.
The weatherman had promised a sunny day later on and this came true - bright sun that quickly warmed the temperature to around 30C. The clouds were gone and the bugs came out into the coolness of the shooting building where we were armed with Deep Woods Off and other concoctions to ward them off.
As the day grew warmer the wind began to pick up - switching from right to left and from a head wind to a tail wind. It was hard to keep up with the changes and many shots were fired in one condition only to look up and see that the wind had changed again - ouch! Although the scores were not really awful, they did reflect the conditions and that "300" remained out of reach today.
Twelve shooters came out to enjoy the shoot under the direction of Match Director Volker T. We also enjoyed the treats brought by Shelly C. and Dan G. Today the scorer was Volker T. and Dave C. did the verifying. Targets were set and changed by John McC., Dave C., Dan G., Volker T. and Cecil H. The ROs were Volker T., Darryl K. and Dave C. Thanks, everyone for pitching in to make this a great shoot.

JUNE 4, 2017 - MINTO - 22BR and SPORTER - RESULTS

Like yesterday in Petitcodiac, today was a wonderful day for a shoot in Minto. The temperature stayed a little on the cool-ish side at about 12C, but this was not unwelcome. The sky remained overcast with no changes and so sighting was favourable for all our old eyes and the effect of the sun was minimal. The wind was very benign and remained fairly even throughout the whole match except near the end of the shoot when it dropped to almost nothing at times. Definitely good
shooting weather and the scores reflect this.

Congratulations are due to Dan G. who shot a super target at 400/28X. Also to Cecil H. and Volker T. who tied at 400/20X. Volker T. also shot a club record in Rimfire Sporter class of 195/10X

Today, the Match Director was John McC. who did an excellent job arranging the relays. The chief scorer was Don M. and he was backed up by Carl J. The targets were set and changed by Wayne K., Dave C., George M., John McC., Bert deV., Guy H., Bruce B. and Gerard D. The range officers were George M., Gerard D., Wayne K., John McC. and Bert deV. We enjoyed Barb J.'s wonderful breads (Cinnamon, Banana and Rhubarb) and some watermelon as well. Barb J. was also the official photographer. Thanks to everyone who helped out today - couldn't have had a great shoot without you.
