JULY 21, 2019 - PETITCODIAC CENTERFIRE BR - RESULTS

Yesterday was our first taste of hot, humid weather. It was 35C and with the humidex it felt  close to 40C. Today was forecast to be much of the same. The morning started at about 20C at 7:00am. Driving to Petitcodiac was automatically and comfortably controlled by the vehicle but we sure felt it when we arrived and got out of the car. Our cooler equipment was quickly coated with a film of condensed moisture as we brought it to the shooting building.
So it was hot and sweaty - some felt it more than others - but no-one complained as we remembered all too well the very recent last twitching of winter's tail. It remained cloudy but fairly bright throughout the match - thank goodness for that as a full sun would have increased the temperature even more. Things cooled down quickly on the way home as we drove in rain all the way.
The conditions also included almost no wind for most of the shooting. Yes, there was some wind, but it was fairly rare and certainly not very strong. It may have been a bit trickier for us to shoot without wind - as we are much more used to a really good dose of it here in New Brunswick. At any rate, some good scores were recorded today. Congrats to Cecil H. who won with a clean 300/21X. Also to Bert deV. who shot a 300/18X. We all send best wishes to our good friend John McC., and hope for a speedy recovery from his recent operation.

JULY 14, 2019 - MINTO CENTERFIRE BR - RESULTS

The weatherman had called for a warm, humid day with temperatures that would feel like 30C, a wind ranging from 13 to 20km/hr and a cloudy, overcast sky with a 70% chance of rain and thundershowers later in the day.
Although we did have a bit of sun, there was very little rain and the thundershowers did not appear until well into the evening. I'd say he was pretty much right on with the weather during the shoot. The wind onthe range did vary between 0 and maybe 20km/hr and it was predominantly from left to right. The relative calm periods, as long as the flags were pointing to the left, were definitely the times to shoot as they lasted the longest and resulted in generally well placed shots  especially later in the match. And the black-flies and mosquitos? Well, it turns out that if enough insecticidal candles are burning in a shooting building, those little pests do actually stay away and allow you to have a very enjoyable shoot. Thanks David C.
Welcome to Wayne L. who came to learn and watch us shoot.
Don M. was the Match Director and scorer - whatever would we do without our old friend to do these tasks for us? Bruce B. helped out with the verification of scores and stats. Conrad L. and David C. served as range officers today, while Mike C., Ben F. and David C. changed the targets. David C. also brought banana bread, cheese and coffee for the whole bunch. Thank you all for helping to make this such an enjoyable shoot.
Congrats to Bert deV. for
shooting a clean 300/24X.

JULY 7, 2019 - PETITCODIAC RIMFIRE BR - RESULTS

After several days of hot, humid weather, where you really did not want to spend much time outdoors, it was a glorious day for a shoot in Petitcodiac. The temperature was around 23C for most of the day with an bright sun and a cooling breeze.

The wind on the range was not "easy" but it was predictable, from 6 o'clock with occasional cross winds. There were also times when the flags were quiet with only a hint of wind in the tails. For shooters who were able to wait for their conditions to return, a good shot was very possible and, as a result, the X-count was quite high for the entire field.

Today, Volker T. was the match director and head scorer with Dan G. providing the verification of scores and stats. Range officers were Darryl K. and Dan G. The targets were set and changed by Dan G.,
Charles McQ., Volker T., Norbert S., Matt McA., Mike C., Malcolm McA. and Bert deV. Barb J. spoiled us again with her wonderful raisin bread and macaroons. Thank you so much from all of us to all of those who helped out.

JUNE 30, 2019 - MINTO - RIMFIRE BR - RESULTS

It was a bit of a muggy day yesterday for our Rimfire Benchrest shoot in Minto. The weatherman had called for rain, thundershowers and somewhat cool temperatures. In actual fact, we did have a
little rain during one of the afternoon relays, temperatures around 17 to 20 degrees throughout the day and no thundershowers. We also had lots of mosquitos who liked the humid, cool conditions and our well fed, tasty canadian skin.

The wind also was a bit of a challenge. It was predominantly from the right, from across the pond. There was some head and tail wind but it was not hard to wait for the dominant condition. The only tricky business was the velocity which was from about 0 to 30km/hr and quite unpredictably so. As a result we shot no clean targets today but most of our scores were quite "respectable".

Today, Don M. was the match director and chief scorer with Cecil H. helping with the scoring and stats. The Range
Officers were Barb J., Conrad L., Dale H., George M., Matt McA. and David C. Targets were changed by Mike C., Bert deV., Ben F., Bruce B. and David C. Both Barb J. and David C. brought breads, cookies, squares and coffee. Many thanks to all who lent a
hand.

Welcome back to Don McI. who has been away for some time having had "his eyes worked on".
Also, congrats to Gerard D. and Dale H. who were presented with the Minto Rimfire Clean Target Patches for a fine performance last time.
