AUGUST 23, 2020 - MINTO - THIRD ANNUAL RNBRA PROVINCIAL RIMFIRE BENCHREST CHAMPIONSHIP - RESULTS

It started out as a cool day with single digit temperatures as we got ready for the trip to Minto. It felt good - cool was good after 2 months of hot (for New Brunswick) and humid weather. The sun came up warm and soon we had our jackets in the back seat. All-in-all it felt a little like the first hunt of the year, in the crisp air, clasping a new 22 Cooey, when we were kids - good anticipations!

The sun stayed out and became quite warm during the afternoon while we were still shooting. It actually reached 28C with not a cloud in the sky (except for a couple of vapour trails which we had not seen for several months but which are now becoming more frequent). The warmth was one factor in our shooting but the wind certainly was another. The match started with a fairly consistent wind from the left - most about 15-20km/hr but occasionally gusting to twice

that. It was generally predictable and most shots stayed well within the center of the bulls. It was the rare and occasional errant shot that cost a point here or there. The wind became a bit stronger and bit less predictable as the day progressed. Despite this, congrats are due to Volker T., Darryl K. and Bert deV. who shot clean targets.

This 3rd Annual RNBRA Rimfire Benchrest Championship was only possible with the hard work and collaboration of many the Minto Gun Club's members. The organizing committee was ably chaired by Conrad L. who was the Match Director. He also represented the RNBRA and brought the plaque and medals. President David C. did the pre-match maintenance work at the range, bought the supplies including the food for the match and headed-up the target changing crew. He was also the COVID-19 precautions officer and his preparations kept us

safe. The other target changers were Bruce B., John McC., Mike C. and Darryl K. Vice-President Wayne K. was responsible for the cooking and as usual did a superb job on the best hotdogs and onions east of the Rockies. The range officers for the match were Darryl K., Matt McA., Mike C., Barb J., Conrad L., John McC. and Bert deV.  A big job of scoring each target within minutes was done by Don M. and Dan G. We owe each and everyone a big THANK YOU! Thanks to you we had a great match and a very enjoyable day together! Also, a big welcome to Bert LeB. who joined us for the first time. We hope you enjoyed it and will come back often.
