SEPTEMBER 25, 2016 - MINTO 22BR - RESULTS

It was a fine day to shoot in Minto, except it started out a little cool with about 2C in the morning with frost on the grass and vehicle. Yessir! - winter is definitely coming. The temperature rose to about 15C but it felt cold because the wind was strong and gusty all day. During the match, the wind was mostly from about 10:00 o'clock to 2:00 o'clock and ranged from about 15 to 30 km/hr with gusts well beyond that. There were the usual changes in direction with the indicators snapping back and forth at times. All in all, very tricky shooting with lots of holding over and hoping the bullet hole would appear close to the 10 ring.
Today, Wayne K. was the match director and head scorer with Don M. doing the verifying. A large group of shooters helped out setting and changing targets - Bill H., George M., Barb J., Mack MacD., John McC., Cecil H. and Bert deV. Barb J. was the chief RSO with Carl J., John McC. and Bert deV. looking after some of the relays. Barb J. brought her famous treats - date squares and blueberry muffins - we're so spoiled!! Thanks to everyone for pitching in today.

SEPTEMBER 17, 2016 - FLORENCEVILLE - 200yd PRONE/BR - RESULTS

It was a great day for shooting in Florenceville on Saturday. Two shooters came up from the southern part of the province to join the guys in Florenceville on a day that threatened rain in the morning but turned out to be dry and overcast for the whole shoot. It was a little cool but nothing out of the ordinary. The wind was pretty steady blowing down range at 10-15km/hr with a little switching that was very visible in the flags.

Today Ash P. was the match director. Ash and Alan C. were the Range Safety Officers. Ash and Jeremy R. were the scorers and the whole crew of shooters took turns to walk the 200m to the targets to change them.

RESULTS - PRONE/BENCHREST - MTR CLASS:
Alan C. - 98/1X + 97/3X + 100/6X = 295/10X
Cole P. - 99/1X + 98/4X + 95/4X = 292/9X
Jeremy R. - 96/2X + 97/2X + 97/2X = 290/6X
Ash P. - 95/1X + 92/0X + 92/3X = 279/4X

RESULTS - BENCHREST - OPEN CLASS:
Bert deV. - 100/6X + 100/10X + 100/10X = 300/26X
John McC. - 100/7X + 99/8X + 100/5X = 299/20X

SEPTEMBER 18, 2016 - THE MARTIN F. TOPF 22 BR CHAMPIONSHIP - RESULTS

Well, it was that time of the year again and it was finally here - the eagerly awaited 22 BR final shoot for the Petitcodiac Sportsman's Club - the Martin F. Topf Championship. This was the final 22 BR shoot in the 2016
Petitcodiac schedule and 16 shooters of those who had qualified to shoot for prizes, were on hand to have some fun and compete. The competition was fierce as you can see from the scores posted below.

This time of year signals the
coming of fall and unsettled weather and, true to form in New Brunswick, the day started on a rather wet note with some fairly heavy rain when we left for the range. As we came closer to Petitcodiac though, the rain lightened gradually and was only sprinkles by the time we arrived at the range. Although we had some showers, generally it stayed pretty dry during the match. We also experienced some heavy wind gusts that rocked the truck sideways on the highway - a bad omen for the upcoming match we thought. Like the rain, however, the wind also subsided and we had fairly light winds with occasional gusts. The winds were very tricky, literally coming from all directions, and sometimes several directions at once. It was impossible to follow more than a couple of wind indicators at any time and even then releasing the shot was a bit of a gamble.
After the first relays were completed, we went to the clubhouse for a lunch arranged by John C. The desserts were made by Shelly C.
Then it was back to shooting the final relays and to our surprise, the wind had almost died down. This meant re-
sighting for the new conditions and waiting for the prevailing calmness to return. Some very good targets were shot (4 perfect target in the first relays compared to 7 in the second relays) and two shooters are congratulated - Brian P. for shooting a 500/24X and Bert deV. with a 500/22X.

Today, the Match Director was Volker T. He was also the head scorer with Shelly C., John McC. and Dan G. verifying the scoring and addition. The targets were set up and changed by Dan G., Shelly C., John McC., Tony L. and Cecil H. The Range Safety Officers were Dan G. and John McC. Barb J. provided banana bread during the shoot for those who felt a little faint from hunger. She and Bert deV. took the pictures. A busy bunch of people who seemed to enjoy what they were doing for fellow shooters. Many thanks for your efforts today. It was a very enjoyable shoot!
Following the completion of the shooting and scoring we all returned to Club House for the presentation of the awards. Several plaques were presented to shooters for accomplishments made during the regular 2016 shooting season and prizes consisting of cash and trophy/plaques/medals were awarded to the top 5 shooters during today's championship. Those who did not receive cash prizes were entered into a draw and could select a prize - everyone went home a winner. The prizes were organized by John C. Many thanks for your awesome contributions, John!

SEPTEMBER 11, 2016 - MINTO - CENTERFIRE BR - RESULTS

Ten shooters made it to Minto today to enjoy a beautiful late summer day shooting. The sun was out for part of the day although it started out cloudy and with a threat of rain. Only the first relay had some rain - but it remained moist and humid. The wind was very changeable -literally from all directions -  although it did not blow very hard (maybe 5-15km/hr).
Thanks to all who volunteered to help today. Wayne K. was the Match director and also did the scoring while Don M. did the score verifying. Volker T. was the range safety officer throughout most of the match  (after discovering that he had brought the wrong ammo) with George M. and Bert deV. helping a bit. Targets were set and changed by Bill H., George M., Mac MacD., Dan G., and Terry McN. Many thanks to Randy L. who came to observe and ended up volunteering to change targets for most of the relays. Thanks also to Tony L. and Bruce B. for bringing the treats - totally enjoyed and all gone at the end.

SEPTEMBER 4, 2016 - PETITCODIAC CENTERFIRE BR - RESULTS

It was a lovely day for a shoot in Petitcodiac. A really bright and cool morning for driving and temperatures that rose to about 25C by afternoon. The bright sun did cause some consternation for some shooters who had difficulty distinguishing the sun shining
through bullet holes in the backing from the actual holes shot by them.

The wind was almost non-existent with only a breath of air moving up or down range. I think the daisy wheels only spun around once during most relays.

Twelve shooter came out during this beautiful Labour Day weekend. The match director was Volker T. He and Dan G. shared the scoring duties while Bert deV. and Darryl K. were the Range Safety Officers. The targets were set and replaced by Tony L., Shelly C., Arnold F., Dan G., Logan G. and Brian P. Thanks to all who lent a hand. Many thanks also to Shelly C. for bringing her wonderful treats again today.

Congrats are due to Volker T. who shot a perfect 300/14X and Bert deV. a 300/22X
