MINTO BENCHREST SHOOTING RULES FOR 2013

Minto Gun Club - Benchrest Shooting Rules

The Minto Benchrest Shooting Rules for 2013 are attached to the shooting schedule. I have separated them from the schedule and posted them here so that they will be a ready reference for all shooters who will be shooting in Minto in 2013.
You are strongly encouraged to read them and to communicate with the shooting committee if you wish to discuss any changes. Rules are made first of all for safety, secondly for fairness, and lastly to encourage and promote the shooting sports.

1.     A Range Officer (RO) will appointed for each match.

2.     Firearms must always be pointed in a safe direction with the bolt (action) open when not on the firing line.

3.     All shoots start at 10:00 am sharp.

4.     Only .22 LR are allowed on silhouettes or flippers.

Lake George 22LR Benchrest Rules

Happy New Year!  I appologize that this is being sent out to the 2012 e-mail list.  We have not had a chance to finalize the 2013 e-mail list yet but wanted to make sure that as many members as possible were aware of these shoots.  As was agreed that the Annual Meeting, there will be three informal 22 shoots this winter.  The following competition regulations have been provided by Terry McNeill who is coordinating these shoots:

MINTO CHRISTMAS FUNSHOOT - 2012 - Results

On Sunday, December 9th, 2012 the Minto Gun Club held it's Annual Christmas Funshoot for members - this time with a difference that clearly found favour with everyone who attended!

First, there was no entry fee!   .  .  .   but everyone brought a $10 value/or more gift for the gift exchange. These were drawn according to the number each person received when they first came through the door. Some gifts were wrapped so most people did not know what they were receiving. (We all love getting a gift eh?)
Second, the plan was for everyone to shoot both centrefire and rimfire but because of the number of shooters, 23 in total, everyone had to choose between firing rimfire OR centrefire or we would all still be there.

For the 12 rimfire shooters, there was a traditional bullseye target, some animal and bird targets and one standing/off-arm target. First place went to Darryl K., who won the turkey. Hams were won by Cecil H. (second), and George Murray (third). Cecil also won the lucky target prize.

For the 11 Centrefire shooters there were three relays of traditional bullseye targets. Tom W. won the turkey for first place (295/300); Don M. won a ham for second (292/300) and Gus C. won a ham for third (291/300). Both rimfire and centrefire shooters fought hard with a switching 10-20km wind. Congratulations to all who shot so well under these conditions and condolences to those who suffered another learning experience - this writer included! Humble pie and mincemeat - mmm! - interesting combination!

Finger lickin' good hotdogs were cooked for everyone by Bruce B. while Barb J. brought cookies and wonderful mince meat pies. Many thanks to both of you - what's a fun shoot without terrific food!

Some important contributions need to be highlighted - as several people worked very hard on this event to make it an enjoyment and success for everyone. Bruce B., Wayne K., Terry M., Barb J., and Dave C. deserve special thanks from all of us. There were also others who served as ROs, photographers and behind the scenes to make this event so enjoyable - many thanks. The organizers thanked all 23 shooters for making the effort to attend and helping to make this a wonderful event.

On behalf of the whole group of shooters, Bruce B. also thanked Norbert S. and Wayne K. for having made the excellent and sturdy shooting benches which have gone a long way to improving everyone's scores wouldn't you say? (some would deny this!!)

Before we went home, we honoured the top shooters for the
year 2012 with trophies and plaques. Congratulations to the
following shooters for some excellent shooting in the past year.We hope there were many personal bests among these results and that next year is filled with good competition and fun, as well as personal achievement and learning as shooters.

HELLO BENCHREST SHOOTERS IN NEW BRUNSWICK

This is the first post on this new blog.
The purpose of this site is to have a comunication tool for Benchrest Shooters in New Brunswick. Whether you shoot in Petitcodiac, Woodstock, Bathurst, or St Stephen, if you are a Benchrest Shooter you share a shooting discipline that is dedicated to perfect scores and the smallest groups. You hone your skills by competing with fellow shooters and getting together with them is as important as eating and sleeping.
You also get hooked on each and every shoot - whether rimfire or centre fire and aren't fit to live with if you have to miss one. If you do well you are on cloud nine and if you do poorly you are in the dumps.
So this site is for you.
Here we will post schedules of shooting clubs that do Benchrest Shooting - for groups or for score. We'll post the results of matches. We'll talk about equipment and link you to sites that discuss and/or sell great shooting stuff. We'll post pictures of some of the shooters we know. We'll talk about everything - great and small - and we'll have some fun. If you have an idea, some comments, some pictures - whatever - contact us and we'll post it.
