AUGUST 13, 2023 - PETITCODIAC - RIMFIRE BR - RESULTS

A good number of shooters attended this week's rimfire benchrest shoot in Petitcodiac NB. Rimfire shooting is becoming the favourite discipline of benchrest shooters this year possibly because centerfire components are so hard to find and are so expensive. Besides, it is fun and a good way to get together with friends. Just think about it  .  .  .  you can "shoot the sh*t" without ear protection on. This is a major consideration for us old fellas who are at least half deaf.

The conditions were excellent for the first relay - clear light, no rain and no "Petitcodiac wind". The second relay was almost as lucky but did have to content with a switching wind but also lots of quiet periods. The third relay had that plus a bit of rain. The fourth relay had the same as the second but the wind came from the other side. All in all a favourable shooting day.

The shooters did not disappoint with 16 clean target sheets. When the dust had settled, 5 shooters had shot a clean match. Congratulations are due to Grant H. who shot 500 with 29X; John McClusky with 26X, Bert deV. with 23X; Matt McA. with 20X and Wayne LeB. with 17X.
Grant H., who won the match, scored his first 500 match ever and joined the illustrious Petitcodiac 500 Club. Congrats Grant!
