FEBRUARY 17, 2019 - PETITCODIAC CENTERFIRE BR - RESULTS

It was another cold day in New Brunswick as we drove to Petitcodiac with temperatures
starting out at close to -20C. As the day progressed the heat of the sun was welcome and made the rest of the day much better. Nevertheless, the covered firing point was cold and with the wind it was no balmy day.

The wind was actually quite manageable during this first centerfire shoot of 2019. A little left to right and a little downrange with sudden gusts and then calm. What was a little more tricky was the glare of the sun on the snow. A squinty experience with lots of mirage when the wind was still.

Today, Dan G. was the match director, chief scorer, target getter, RO and he also brought the Timbits. John McC. helped with the scoring while Don M. and Tony helped with the targets. John McC. and Bert deV. helped with the RO duties. Tony L. brought some treats. Welcome to couple of fellows who will be joining us for the shoots this year.

FEBRUARY 16, 2019 - MINTO RIMFIRE BENCHREST - RESULTS

Seven enthusiastic marksmen braved the snow-packed, slippery roads to shoot at the first scheduled meet of 2019 at Minto. Wayne K. and George M. had the clubhouse warm and cozy when we arrived. Targets were set and changed by Cecil H. and Ben F.  The Range Officers were Dave C. and Barb J. The scoring duties were shared by Don M. and Wayne K.  Dave C. made coffee and Barb J. brought sweets. As the temperature increased so did the wind which made for tricky shooting. The wind flags got their exercise today! Ben F. was so excited as he got his first medal for first place in Sporter Class. Congratulations!!!!. Congratulations to Dave C. as well as he shot a 400/13X. We had a great day and arrived home early.

FEBRUARY 3, 2019 - PETITCODIAC - 22BR RESULTS

We had a nice sunny day to shoot. The temperature started out at -14C and warmed up to -6 in the
early afternoon. Winds were light to moderate, so the windchill was not as bad as predicted, but cold enough. And no snow! A couple of the shooters who shot at yesterday's match
in Lake George decided to pass on this one as their fingers were still suffering from the effects of yesterday's cold temperatures and blowing snow.

Dan G. installed the new "Bennett Blinds" to block the sunglare off the snow for the shooters. They worked well.
Thanks to Barb J. for the delicious sweets and Dan's TimBits. They went well with the crowd surrounding the warming wood stove.
Thanks to all for handling the ice control on the stairs, keeping wood in the stove, target setting and Range Officering. The shoot went fast and all enjoyed it. We are looking to warmer weather next time!
Your Director, Volker T.

FEBRUARY 2, 2019 - LAKE GEORGE GUN CLUB - 22BR

Thanks to Barb J. for sending this report.

"We had a lovely day at Lake George yesterday. Much quieter on the firing line with no distractions. The morning
relays had sun-cloud conditions with little wind but numbing cold. After lunch, the weather changed with a vengeance. Heavy swirling snow with winds coming in all directions. I'm afraid the Groundhog saw his shadow in
the morning as the temperature did not improve.

Our thanks to Range Officers- Bruce B., Darryl K. and Barb J. Also to Target Changers- Bruce B., Cecil H. and Barb J. Thanks  to Scorekeepers Dave C. and Carl J. and the Photographer Darryl K. Bruce brought lunch and Barb brought sweets. Congratulations to the winners and thanks to Bruce for keeping the Clubhouse warm to thaw out the frozen trigger- fingers. Thanks, Bruce, for another great shoot in Terry's memory.

JANUARY 5, 2019 - LAKE GEORGE GUN CLUB - 22BR OPEN & SPORTER

Our thanks to Darryl K. who sent this write-up:
"The match was hosted by Lake George Gun Club and put on by Bruce B.  The weather was unbelievably warm for January 5th - no wind at all throughout the match.  This shooter has never witnessed that before. The wind flags hung motionless throughout the match with no job to do. With this condition there was some very fine shooting by all. There was plenty to eat for all, Bruce B. brought the hot dogs, buns and refreshments, and Barb J. with her outstanding cooking of mince pies, banana bread and cinnamon raisin loaf. Dave C. was head scorer with Carl J. doing the verifying.  Wayne K. and Cecil H. set targets. Range Officer duties were performed by Bruce B., Dave C. and Darryl K. Pictures taken by Barb J. and Darryl K,  I hope I have not forgoten anybody for this great tribute shoot for Terry."
Thanks also to Barb J. who sent this:
"It was a terrific day at Lake George. Organizer and Match Director Bruce B. conducted a great shoot in Terry's memory. Competition was keen with four perfect scores and several shooters with only one error. You will never believe it! NO WIND! The wind flags never moved throughout the match. It was nice to see Jerry J. and Steven S. competing with us. Our friends from Petitcodiac and Minto arrived safely and even Gerard D. arrived from Saint John after taking several scenic detours to find us. Thanks to everyone who brought food, took photos and helped out in any way. Terry would have been proud of our day. Thanks, Bruce."
