AUGUST 23, 2020 - MINTO - THIRD ANNUAL RNBRA PROVINCIAL RIMFIRE BENCHREST CHAMPIONSHIP - RESULTS

It started out as a cool day with single digit temperatures as we got ready for the trip to Minto. It felt good - cool was good after 2 months of hot (for New Brunswick) and humid weather. The sun came up warm and soon we had our jackets in the back seat. All-in-all it felt a little like the first hunt of the year, in the crisp air, clasping a new 22 Cooey, when we were kids - good anticipations!

The sun stayed out and became quite warm during the afternoon while we were still shooting. It actually reached 28C with not a cloud in the sky (except for a couple of vapour trails which we had not seen for several months but which are now becoming more frequent). The warmth was one factor in our shooting but the wind certainly was another. The match started with a fairly consistent wind from the left - most about 15-20km/hr but occasionally gusting to twice

that. It was generally predictable and most shots stayed well within the center of the bulls. It was the rare and occasional errant shot that cost a point here or there. The wind became a bit stronger and bit less predictable as the day progressed. Despite this, congrats are due to Volker T., Darryl K. and Bert deV. who shot clean targets.

This 3rd Annual RNBRA Rimfire Benchrest Championship was only possible with the hard work and collaboration of many the Minto Gun Club's members. The organizing committee was ably chaired by Conrad L. who was the Match Director. He also represented the RNBRA and brought the plaque and medals. President David C. did the pre-match maintenance work at the range, bought the supplies including the food for the match and headed-up the target changing crew. He was also the COVID-19 precautions officer and his preparations kept us

safe. The other target changers were Bruce B., John McC., Mike C. and Darryl K. Vice-President Wayne K. was responsible for the cooking and as usual did a superb job on the best hotdogs and onions east of the Rockies. The range officers for the match were Darryl K., Matt McA., Mike C., Barb J., Conrad L., John McC. and Bert deV.  A big job of scoring each target within minutes was done by Don M. and Dan G. We owe each and everyone a big THANK YOU! Thanks to you we had a great match and a very enjoyable day together! Also, a big welcome to Bert LeB. who joined us for the first time. We hope you enjoyed it and will come back often.

AUGUST 16, 2020 - PETITCODIAC RIMFIRE BENCHREST - RESULTS

It was a great day to host the .22 Match and it was wonderful to see more familiar faces turn out to today's shoot after such a long break due to Covid-19. Thanks to Barb J. for the awesome oatmeal cookies which disappeared pretty fast - kudos to you. Thanks to Dan G. for supplying the Timbits. Everyone enjoyed themselves and had a good time.

The weather was extremely cooperative with sunny skies, temperatures not exceeding 26C, and light wind. At times the wind did switch around a bit and shooters had to decide whether to play the waiting game with the clock or bet on their planned hold. It all turned out very well and congrats are due to the five shooters who shot a 500 score. Special congrats to Dale H. for achieving his 500 Club crest from PSC. In addition, a lot of good scores were shot today. The PSC high target score was matched today as well, not beat - still room for improvement!

Thanks to all who helped with the target setting, scoring, score verification and RO-ing.
Your Match Director.

AUGUST 2, 2020 - PETITCODIAC CENTERFIRE BR - RESULTS

Today was a good day at the Petitcodiac range for a CF Match. The day started out at 6C on the drive from Queens County. There was a lot of fog over the rivers and streams and some of the open fields. A nice cool way to start the day.
It has really been hot in southern New Brunswick. Today, at the match, was no exception as temperatures rose to 30C (along with a heat warning). But it started out with clear skies and light wind of 6 to 14km. This made for several 100 scores. Congrats to Bert deV. and Dan G. who both pinned 300 scores. It was also good to see John McC. back on the shooting bench and shooting in top form after a long period of illness. We are happy to see your recovery to good health.

Thanks to all who helped out today starting with the Match Director (Volker T.), Scorers (Volker T. and Dan G.), Range Officers (Darryl K. and Dan G.), Target Changers (Dan G., Don M., John McC. and Volker T), Photographers (Darryl K. and Bert deV.) and the treats supplied by Dan G. JULY 19, 2020 - PETITCODIAC - RIMFIRE BR - RESULTS

Thanks to Volker T. for the write-up and to Darryl K. for the pics.

Today was a great day to host our first 22 Benchrest shoot since March.  The weather was accommodating. Skies were clear, the temperature was 28C by the afternoon making it a bit hot and humid, (especially when wearing a covid mask). The wind was light but occasionally it played some games with wind indicators making them go in opposite directions. Its "Petti-wind" - what more to say.
Congrats to John M. for the only 500 shot, and earning his long awaited PSC 500 Crest. Thanks to the ROs Dan G., Darryl K. and Bruce B. Thanks to both Joanne S.  and Dan G. for the tasty sweets and the Timbits.
Target duty was handled by Dan G. and Brian P. Thanks guys.  Volker T. was the Director and Scorer, and Dan G. did the verifying. It was a challenging day scoring with many close shots. All shooters did very well.
Your Director, Volker

JULY 5, 2020 - PETITCODIAC - CENTERFIRE OPEN CLASS BR AT 100YD - RESULTS

Well, PSC finally got the opportunity to host a rifle shoot. Since last March we were in limbo due to Covid concerns and a forest fire prevention lockdown. I think everyone was glad to connect with shooting buddies and

enjoy a nice day at the range. The weather was great except for a very brief cloudburst. Good lighting, little wind, but some wind activity that did have consequences for some shooters. But two shooters did get 300's - Bert deV. shot a 300/20X and Don M. shot a 300/14X. Congrats guys!

Thanks to our RO's, Bert deV. and Darryl K. and also to the target setters Dan G., Don M., Malcolm McA. and Charles McQ. who did the lion's share. Volker T. was the match director and the head scorer with Charles McQ. verifying the results. Darryl K. was the photographer.
Everyone came prepared with masks and adhered to the "new normal" social distancing rules. The match Director had set up a cleaning station and we shot from every other bench. Some of us forgot to reserve a spot in advance but were accomodated just the same!
Scores attached. Your Director, Volker.

JUNE 27, 2020 - FLORENCEVILLE RIMFIRE UNLIMITED AND SPORTER

The shooters in Florenceville had the honour of restarting the 2020 New Brunswick shooting season which had been suspended since the end of March due to Covid-19. Things have progressed in New Brunswick so that we feel much more secure in getting together and shooting again.
Two separate matches were shot at the same time - an unlimited class of Rimfire at 50m and a Sporter (Hunting Rifle) class on a different target - also Rimfire at 50m. Thanks to Alden H. for sending the results.
He says "We had our first shoot of the season yesterday . We were hand sanitized, had a hand washing station, used every other shooting bench and each brought our own lunch.  Had a great time. Hope you can all come next time July 18, 2020.

Take care , Alden H."
