FEBRUARY 9, 2020 - MINTO 1ST QUARTERLY MEETING AND RF BR - RESULTS

The first quarterly meeting of the Minto Gun Club was held today at 9:45A.M. with eight members present. After the meeting was finished, some members stayed for the first rimfire BR shoot of the new season in Minto.
It was a bitterly cold, windy day with temperatures around -27C first thing in the morning. It did not warm up much during the day, but thanks to Wayne K. the clubhouse was warm and cozy. The greatest shock came on the firing line as the cold and wind were unforgiving on the fingers (as well as the rest of us).

Everyone helped out which allowed events to run smoothly. Ben F. and Shawn R. changed the targets, Wayne K. and Guy H. scored the targets, David C. looked after the Range Officers, made
coffee, and passed out medals. Barb J. took the pics, wrote the write-up and provided the goodies. Congratulations to the winners (and to everyone for hanging in).

FEBRUARY 2, 2020 - PETITCODIAC - RF BR RESULTS

Thanks to Volker T. for the write-up and to Volker and Darryl K. for the pictures.
It was a good day to finally start our BR series at Petitcodiac Sportsman's Club with a Rimfire Open class shoot. Shooters en-route to the shoot may haverun into an occasional light flurry but we missed the snow at the shoot - I mean it didn't occur! LOL. Temperature was in the -6C range
an overcast with light winds of 12km/hr gusting to 20.
It was "Groundhog Day", but none showed up - just as well. Hopefully the lack of shadows predict an early spring.
Congrats to Gerard D. and Darryl K. who started the year out with 500/27X and 500/23X respectively.
The stove was warmed to keep shooters on waiting relays nice and warm.
There was also ample delicious goodies to enjoy - thanks to Barb J. and Dan G.

FEBRUARY 1, 2020 - LAKE GEORGE GUN CLUB - RF BR RESULTS

Thanks to Barb J. for the write-up and to both Barb and Darryl K. for the pics.
The second (2 of 3 shoots in 2020) annual Terry F. McNeill
Memorial Winter Benchrest Shoot was held today Feb.1, 2020 at the Lake George Gun Club. Ten shooters took part in the Open Class while four shooters participated in the Sporter Class. The weather cooperated with little windflag action.  At times though, the wind did play
mischief causing much grief to the shooter. Bruce had everything organized when we arrived and everyone chipped in and helped out with the targets, Range Officer duties, lunch, and clean-up. It was nice to visit with the Chapmans who joined us for the day . Bruce provided a delicious lunch of homemade baked beans, hotdogs and rolls. We certainly missed Cecil H. as he is scheduled for open-heart surgery this week. Congratulations to the winners David C., Volker T., and Dan G. It was a great day.

We started the new year out with the Terry F. McNeill Memorial winter bench shoot at Lake George Gun Club. Bruce B. had everything well organized and the club house was cozy and warm when we arrived. There were fourteen shooters competing today. Also two LGGC shooters were shooting handguns at the 25 yd. range. During the noon hour another LGGC shooter was practicing at the 100 yd. range. The ranges were very busy today. The competitors joined us for hotdogs and sweets. Dave C. and Guy H. were the scorers and everyone helped with changing targets and being Range Officers. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR

A very merry Christmas
and a happy New Year
to all our friends
from the Benchrest Shooters
of New Brunswick, Canada

DECEMBER 8, 2019 - PETITCODIAC CHRISTMAS SHOOT

PSC Christmas Shoot
Although it was a very cold morning with -13C and -20C windchill, everyone was upbeat for the last big shoot of the year. The sun was bright, requiring the sun shades to be installed. There was a lot of glare off the snow on the range. All bays were used, but there was still some room to gather around the stove for the upcoming relay of shooters.
A variety of fun targets were used by your friendly director such as the "Good Luck", "Know Your Limits", "Flies", and "Crows". There was the occasional friendly dig about these targets from shooters. Really, the Grinch was not around, lol. The winners of turkey prizes were Tony L., Matt McA., Bruce B., and John M. respectively. A draw for nicely wrapped gifts prepared by John C. was held for the remainder to wrap up the shoot. At noon a tasty hot meal was served up by Bev T. and Joanne S. Extra food was brought along by Dave C., Bruce B., and John McC. Sweets were also provided by Shelly C. Thanks all for the excellent cuisine. And thanks to all for the routine target work and range duties. On behalf of the PSC Rifle Committee we wish you a Merry Christmas and Healthy New Year . Per VMT, director. Thanks also to Darryl K. for the pics.

Best regards,
Volker

DECEMBER 5, 2019 - UPPER MIRAMICHI FIREARMS CLUB BACK IN OPERATION

DECEMBER 1, 2019 - MINTO - CHRISTMAS SHOOT RESULTS

It was a wonderful day for the last shoot of 2019 in Minto - the Annual Christmas Turkey Shoot. No - we did not shoot at turkeys - but 4 shooters did take turkeys home.
Today, the match director was Don M. who was also the head scorer with Dale H. verifying. Targets were changed by Mike C., Cecil H., and Bruce B. The ROs were Volker T., Norbert S., George M., Conrad L. and Mike C. Many thanks, guys, for all your help.
Because this was the Christmas shoot, a Christmas meal was provided by the Club and by several members. David C. brought coffee, chili and his delicious brown bread. Wayne K. brought baked beans; Darryl K. brought Joanne's delicious meatballs; Bill H. brought chocolates; Barb J. brought her delectable mince-meat pies and Bert deV. brought an assortment of cookies and soft drinks. It was a wonderful meal at the end of a wonderful year of shooting together.

When the match was completed, scored and the scores were tallied, David C. handed a large turkey to the winners of both the open and sporter classes - Conrad L. and Mike C. respectively. The second place winners - Cecil H. and Wayne K. received a slightly smaller turkey for some good shooting. I think we all had a lot of fun today. Every shooter received a draw ticket and was able to select one of the presents brought by each member.
David C. also made special mention of Barb's generous donation of her own baking for each of the rimfire shoots this year. He expressed the Club's thanks and presented Barb with a complimentary membership for herself and for Carl.
Finally, the much anticipated drawing for the 45x45 Sightron Scope donated by Peter Dobson of Hirsch Precision, took place. Norbert S. was the lucky winner. We thank Peter for his generous donation and also thank all those who bought tickets and thereby supported the building and shooting programs of the Minto Gun Club. This year saw the completion of a small pistol shooting building and a full program of shooting competitions as well as fun shooting.
