It was a wonderful spring day in New Brunswick when we went to the Petitcodiac range for the first centerfire match in May. Although bit cool in the morning - about 7C - it did warm up nicely to about 18C on our way back.
In the meantime, during the match, it stayed a little cool but sunny. This gave us a lot of mirage when the wind was relatively still. This disappeared when the wind picked up. It was interesting that in the first and last relays shooters were plagued by heavy mirage - so much so that it was almost impossible to see the center lines of the bulls and much of our sighting was guesswork. The middle relays, by contrast were much clearer for sighting but here we had to deal with gusty winds that were quite unpredictable.
Despite these conditions, some good scores were recorded although the X count was a bit low. Congrats go to Malcolm McA. who scored a clean target of 300/13X and also to Bert deV. who shot a 300/10X.
