DECEMBER 11, 2022 – MINTO – CHRISTMAS RIMFIRE FUN SHOOT - RESULTS

It was a sunny but cold morning, -11C and feeling like -16C with a brisk 15 km/h NNE wind. After lunch the winds had decreased and although still -5C, it was much more pleasant. Nineteen (19) shooters participated, “A” targets consisting of two fun targets - the Fox and the Crow. A wonderful lunch was provided consisting of chilly, beans, brown bread, gum drop cake, banana bread, mince meat pies, christmas cake and cookies. Lunch was on the fly as “B” targets started. These consisted of two fun targets -10 Flies and 10 Crows.

Following the fun shoot we took the opportunity to draw for a rifle on which tickets had been sold for several months. This was a CZ452 with rings and a scope. With the support of shooters from the Minto Gun Club, the Petitcodiac Sportsman's Club and others, $900 was raised to help fund the renovations to the shooting building of the Minto Gun Club. The winner of the draw was Don M. Congrats Don!

and the money goes to president David C.
The final order of business was to present the end-of-year plaques to the shooters who shot various records throughout the regular schedule and to those who won the 2022 final championships. Congrats to all!

December 4, 2022 - PETITCODIAC - CHRISTMAS RIMFIRE SHOOT

Time is moving on and here it is December once again and with it comes the much awaited Petitcodiac Christmas rimfire shoot.
Twenty shooters from the south of New Brunswick showed up to have some fun together shooting fun targets that are only seen at Christmas shoots.
Volker T. was the match director and head scorer with John McC. and Bert deV. verifying the scoring and stats. The ROs were Dan G., Dale H. and Bruce B. while many shooters went down range to change targets. Barb J. had some nice cookies and banana bread for the shooters who huddled around the stove or who chatted in the side room which was now insulated and had its own heater. Many thanks to all and to John C. who organized the food and the prizes.


The weather was typical New Brunswick late fall with temperatures hovering around the 0C at the beginning of the shoot and rising somewhat later in the day. The wind was raw and fairly strong and gusty. Although there was a magnificent display of wind flags, many shooters did not pay heed to them very much at all preferring to shoot quickly and go to the stove.
At the midpoint of the shoot, we all went to the clubhouse for a meal. This was assembled by John C. with Bruce B. bringing his wife's beans and John McC. bringing Dorothy's baking. Dave C. brought home made brown bread while Barb J.'s gum drop cake was a hit for desert.


After the shoot was finished and the stats were all done, Volker T. thanked all contributors to this wonderful get-together. Prizes were awarded to the 4 top shooters corresponding to the 4 fun targets. Then, as has become a tradition, all shooters were able to select a prize from the gift table. All went home with grins on their faces.
