JULY 26, 2026 - PETITCODIAC - RIMFIRE BR - OPEN

Many thanks to Volker T. for the results and pics.

The weather was great which made for a good shooting match day. The day started out at 14C, and with clear, sunny skies. Running two relays made for a quick shoot before temps hit 34C. The wind was light, but with very few still conditions.
With those conditions, we had two clean match scores in the 500s and several shooters trailing close behind with 1-2 points less. Congrats to Gerald D. who scored 500/25X and to Bruce B. with a score of 500/19X.

JULY 19, 2026 - MINTO - RIMFIRE BR - OPEN/SPORTER

Many thanks to Dale H. for the results and to Volker T. for the pics.

We woke up to a light rain and a thick mist that persisted on the drive to the range. The temperature, early in the morning, was about 16C. This felt nice and cool but the humidity was high and stayed for a part of the day - about halfway through the match - until the wind and the sun had eliminated the mist.

The sun came out in the second half of the match and what had been very even light became more glaring but without the mirage we experience last week. This was due to the strong winds that persisted and continued to build all day. It was from the left side of the range for periods and switched to a head wind for periods and these were the best shooting conditions. Winds were recorded from all directions though, and were so strong at times that several flags and targets were toppled. We even had some quiet periods that definitely were not good conditions for pulling the trigger.

No clean match scores were recorded but, despite the wind conditions, some pretty good scores were attained. Congrats to Wayne LeB. who won the Sporter class with a score of 399/16X and one clean target sheet. Congrats also to Bert deV. who won the Open class with a score of 397/16X.

JULY 12, 2026 - PETITCODIAC - CENTERFIRE BR - OPEN

Thanks to Darryl K. for sending the results.

It was a very nice day to hold a centerfire shoot in Petitcodiac, New Brunswick. The day dawned with a bright sun and the temperature around 10C. The best kind of conditions for a relaxed drive to the range!

As the day progressed the temperature increased to about 25C while the sun shone brightly throughout the match. This did lead to mirage gradually increasing and by noon some of the centres jiggled and wriggled in the scope.

The wind throughout the match was mostly light but was switching from all directions on the range. There were long periods of relative calm and quiet with the tails of the wind flags drooping down with no movement. This condition was used by many shooters with good effect although one had to be careful not to pull the trigger in transition periods as then conditions were a bit more unpredictable.

Congrats to BertdeV. with a score of 300/25X, to Becky McC. who shot a score of 300/23X and to John McC. who shot a 300/19X and placed third on countback. Congrats also to Malcolm McA. who tied with John and to Darryl K. who shot 300/16X.

Becky McC. achieved something never done before in New Brunswick benchrest circles. She shot 100/10X (perfect target sheets) on two consecutive relays. We were all hoping that she would continue this on the third, which would have given her the first perfect match on record. However, in conditions of mirage this was not to happen. Maybe next time - yeah!

JULY 5, 2026 - MINTO - CENTERFIRE BR - OPEN/SPORTER

RESULT WILL BE POSTED WHEN THEY BECOME AVAILABLE

Thanks to David C. for sending the pics.
It was a wonderful cool, (about 10C), morning on the drive to the range. It was   "wonderful" because the past few days have been a soul-sapping 33C with high humidity. The shoot started at a comfortable 16C and ended at 26C. We had constant sunshine - good for our spirits but bad for mirage which, at low wind times, made for a jumpy target center.
The wind was mostly from the right and ranged from apparent calm to a wind-flag humming 25 km/hr. Not too bad really. This direction allowed the wind to come up from one of the old coal pits on the right which made for unseen tricky winds on the far half of the range. These conditions could not be identified as the wind flags were hidden here by a dip in the range.
We all had a lot of fun today and the match went quickly as there were only 2 relays with 3 shooters each. Congrats go to Bert deV. in open class with a clean match of 300/24X and to Guy H. in sporter class with a score of
