DECEMBER 5, 2021 - PETITCODIAC CHRISTMAS SHOOT - RESULTS

This was the final shoot of the year for PSC. and also for all formal Benchrest shooting in our part of New Brunswick. The next time you'll see us is in 2022.

The weather was cooperative, more or less. No rain, snowstorms, nor excessive wind. The temperature was in the -6 to 0 range. And the wind was light to moderate. So the range was not overfilled with wind vanes for a change.

Both stoves were up and running. Chris S. set up the propane stove and Dan G. and his crew installed a new flu for the wood stove. Thanks, guys. Shooters were comfortable and in good spirits.

We had 22 competitors.  Four different targets were chosen by Volker T. for the shoot: "Good Luck"(a blank sheet of paper scored with a template), "Know Your Limits" (gradually descending sizes of little bulls), "Crows" (a few large crows on a fence and a whole bunch of teeny-tiny crows) and "Flies" (a whole bunch of flies and you've got to hit the heads). Shooters soon recalled the fun they had with them last year!

The winners and scores were:
"Good Luck" John M. 25 "Know Your Limits"    Bert deV.   28
"Crows"                       Cecil H.      51 "Flies"                          Dave C.     35

Many thanks to all who helped out today. Volker T. who was the match organizer and scorer; John McC. who helped with the scoring and counting. The ROs Dan G., Darryl K., and Chris S.. The target changers David C., Charles McQ., Richard., Dan G., and Brian P.
A big Thanks to John C. for acquiring the sandwich trays, setting up the kitchen and food distribution. And also to Grant, his assistant. John C. also did a fine job in wrapping the draw gifts! Thanks, ‘Santa'. Thanks also to Bruce B. for the delicious brown beans and brown rolls and kitchen help. As well to Dave C. for the best brown bread around. Thanks also to Wayne LeB. who brought cookies and to Barb J.  for her awesome sweets.

NOVEMBER 28, 2021 - MINTO - CHRISTMAS RIMFIRE SHOOT - RESULTS

Sixteen marksmen took part today in the Minto Gun Club Christmas Shoot . The strong wind was ever present which caused a few problems along with the cold temperature. Nevertheless, everyone enjoyed themselves, especially, at lunchtime.
Thanks to the cooks for the delicious chili, beans, brown bread, rolls, banana bread, and mincemeat pies. Dave presented medals and cash to Bruce and Wayne L. in the Open Class and to John M. and Norbert in the Sporter Class. A monetary gift was given to Barb which was greatly appreciated.

NOVEMBER 21, 2021 - PETITCODIAC SPORTER SHOOT - RESULTS

It was a good day to get together with the local 22 Sporter shooters at Petitcodiac. The Covid lockdown was dropped from Metro Moncton, so shooters were glad to hang out.

We noticed the slight icing on the side roads with the drop in temperatures. It was overcast, temps in the -2 to +5C range. And hardly any wind to deal with. Unusual for the Petitcodiac range. There were no wind flags used on the range.  Only a couple of streamers on the bordering trees which responded to the occasional wind gusts. Danny G., the match director, provided an array of fun targets and changing positions for the match.

RESULTS - SPORTER CLASS SHOOT (DIFFERENT FUN TARGETS):
Chris S. - 82 + 75 + 87 + 72 = 316                     Danny G. - 82 + 69 + 47 + 76 = 274
Tony L. -  69 + 63 + 80 + 77 = 289                     Darryl K. - 58 + 70 + 70 + 42 = 240
Charles McQ. - 71 + 79 + 72 + 66 = 288           Grant     - 22 + 12 + 44 + 53 = 131
Volker T. - 83 + 81 + 85 + 34 = 283                    John C. - 0 + 14 + 14 + 58 = 86
Brian P. - 57 + 50 + 82 + 94 = 283

Thanks to everyone for helping with target posting, and Dan for Directing and scoring. As well as his regular Timbit treats.  They went fast. Thanks to Darryl K. for the pics. Congrats to the top three shooters: Chris S., Tony L. and Charles McQ.

The PSC Rifle Committee also took this opportunity to present Darryl K. with the trophy for 1st place in the 2019 annual Martin Topf 22 Benchrest Championship. The cup replaced the plaque that he had been presented with before. Presentation by John C.

NOVEMBER 14, 2021 - MINTO - AGM AND FUN SHOOT

The Annual General Meeting of the Minto Gun Club was held this Sunday with 18 members attending. It was a long and very productive meeting that strained the stamina of the members and those running the meeting. Some of the members who would have attended, could not due to the Covid-19 situation across New Brunswick while others were ill or committed to other engagements such as the RNBRA AGM which was held at the same time.
After the AGM was adjourned, John McC. ran a fun shoot that was attended by only a few die-hard members who did not go home right after the meeting. It was reported to be a lot of fun using target that we don't see until the end of the year - crows, rats and other challenging critters (on paper of course).

RESULTS OF FUN SHOOT:
1st place = Wayne L. and Danny G. = 157 total
2nd place = John Mo. = 155 total
3rd place = Bruce B. and Volker T. = 150 total
4th place = George M. = 140 total
5th place = Dale H. = 138 total
6th place = John McC. = 135 total

NOVEMBER 7, 2021 - MINTO - CENTERFIRE OPEN FUN SHOOT

A few hardy dedicated centerfire shooters came together today to try their hands at shooting in cold conditions in which the wind seemed to be the least of their worries. Not so! The wind was tricky and even the 30BR had trouble with it. The match was slated to be an effort to raise some cash for the renovations planned for the shooting building and so fees and dollars raised were donated to the club for that purpose.
John McC. put the match together and scored. Targets were changed by Guy H., John McC., Wayne K., and Don M. Bert deV., Wayne K. and Don M. were the ROs.

RESULTS - OPEN CLASS:
Bert deV. - 300/18X (30BR)
John McC. - 298/15X (30BR)
Guy H. - 298/13X (30BR)
Don M. - 296/11X (30BR)
Wayne K. - 276/6X (223 Rem)

OCTOBER 31, 2021 - MINTO - RIMFIRE FUN SHOOT - RESULTS

Yes it was a very rainy and dark day today and the weatherman must have been chuckling as he said "See, I told you so!". Not only was it wet all throughout the match but it was cool - just like a fall day in New Brunswick. It was nice to go from the shooting building to the clubhouse where the wood stove had been lit.
As it was to be a "fun shoot" today nobody had thought to bring wind flags and it sure was fun to shoot without good indicators of the wind. We ended up using the branches of trees and the few straggling ribbons still stapled to the target frames from earlier shoots. This seemed to be all some shooters needed to do pretty well in conditions that included some hearty gusts.
This shoot was organized by John McC. who, along with his son, designed the targets and printed them for us to use. John also scored the targets and worked up the stats. Many thanks John and Shane - we all enjoyed the shoot. (yes we had fun!).
Dale H., John Mo., George M. and Don Me. all braved the elements to change the targets and dry them on the wood stove. Thanks guys! Range officers were Wayne K., Conrad L. and George M.
RESULTS - OPEN CLASS RF BR (VERY INTERESTING NON-STANDARD TARGETS):
John McC. - 215/13X     George M. - 185/9X
Don Me. - 150/2X           Conrad L. - 58/1X

RESULTS - SPORTER CLASS (EQUALLY INTERESTING TARGETS)
:
John Mo. - 300/23X       Bert deV. - 273/16X          Dale H. - 251/14X
Gerry J. - 282/13X         John McC. - 257/9X         Norbert S. - 99/3X
Wayne K. - 274/11X
