Conditions remained cool but dry and very, very windy. The Florenceville range for smallbore is a 50 meter range (add another 14 feet to your 50 yd settings) and shaped like a bowl with berms on 3 sides and the roofed shooting building along the south side. The wind will come over a berm and be trapped inside causing some interesting swirls which can be hard to figure out.
For this shoot we used 3 USBR 50yd targets (75 shots) which were scored down for a possible of 750/75X. A "10" is clear of the green "9 ring" and the "X" must punch out all of
the center green ring. A tough
target at 50m and tough scoring. Excellent for training you to become an "X" shooter. In Sporter class a 5 bull smallbore target was used (3 relays for a possible of 600/60X).
Ash P. was the match director and one of the Range Officers while Raymond G. was the other RO. The scorers were Greg S. and John McC. Everyone went forward to change their own target. Jean S. had made a wonderful lunch which was devoured after the shoot was over. I can personally vouch for the potato salad (probably the best in the land). Many thanks to all for making this a terrific shoot.Despite the conditions some very good shooting took place. Greg S., Ted S. and Raymond G. all shot their best score of the season. Congrats fellows!!
