Thanks to Darryl K. for sending the results.
It was a very nice day to hold a centerfire shoot in Petitcodiac, New Brunswick. The day dawned with a bright sun and the temperature around 10C. The best kind of conditions for a relaxed drive to the range!
As the day progressed the temperature increased to about 25C while the sun shone brightly throughout the match. This did lead to mirage gradually increasing and by noon some of the centres jiggled and wriggled in the scope.
The wind throughout the match was mostly light but was switching from all directions on the range. There were long periods of relative calm and quiet with the tails of the wind flags drooping down with no movement. This condition was used by many shooters with good effect although one had to be careful not to pull the trigger in transition periods as then conditions were a bit more unpredictable.
Congrats to BertdeV. with a score of 300/25X, to Becky McC. who shot a score of 300/23X and to John McC. who shot a 300/19X and placed third on countback. Congrats also to Malcolm McA. who tied with John and to Darryl K. who shot 300/16X.
Becky McC. achieved something never done before in New Brunswick benchrest circles. She shot 100/10X (perfect target sheets) on two consecutive relays. We were all hoping that she would continue this on the third, which would have given her the first perfect match on record. However, in conditions of mirage this was not to happen. Maybe next time - yeah!
