The year 2019 has unfolded at what seems like a fast pace, and we are again at the time of the year when the regular match schedules are finished and the final shoots begin. First this year, is Petitcodiac's Martin F. Topf Annual Rimfire Championship.
They picked a very good day for this important match. Temperatures started fairly cool in the morning and the car was covered with condensation when we started out. As we were travelling, the sun burned through the mist and became a big bright floodlight in the sky leading the way south along the highway. As the day progressed, it became warmer but the wind also picked up a bit.
The winds were very mild early on and increased to about 15-20km/hr. True to Petitcodiac's reputation, it was from all over the place. Depending on the relay being shot, it could just as easily have been from 6:00 o'clock as from 12:00, 9:00 or 3:00 o'clock. It was a match were patience and waiting was rewarded. Even so, it became a tricky wind that did take a few points here and there.
Today, the Match Director was Volker T. who was also the scorer with verification of scoring and statistics provided by Dan G. The Range Officers were Darryl K., Dan G. and Bruce B. Targets were set and changed by Darryl K., Charles McQ., Mike C., David C., Bert deV. and Dan G. Barb J. again spoiled us with her wonderful baking - during the shoot she provided banana bread and chocolate squares. These are becoming shooting staples at our benchrest shoots - (as much as CenterX ammunition and Anschutz rifles). Half-way through the match we went to the Clubhouse to feast on a lunch provided by John C. - then back to finish the match.
