SEPTEMBER 19, 2021 - MINTO - 200yd CENTERFIRE - RESULTS

It was a lovely day that heralded the imminent arrival of Fall. It was cool, sunny and the wind toyed with our shots so that they were all over the paper. It was impossible to tell what the wind was doing over the pond that is located between the shooting building and the targets at 200 yards. But we had a lot of fun - the five of us even if our shooting was nothing to write home about.
It was very nice to see our old friend from Florenceville, Ash P. after many months of not shooting with him. He has not lost any of his skills as he promptly took first place in Open class.

SEPTEMBER 12, 2021 - PETITCODIAC - THE 7th ANNUAL MARTIN F. TOPF RIMFIRE CHAMPIONSHIP - RESULTS

The wind was erratic, there was a heavy mist and dew on the ground, and we needed some heat in car on the drive down to the 7th Annual Martin F. Topf Championship in Petitcodiac. By the time we had arrived everything had changed except the gusts of wind coming from all over the range. The sun came out and the humidity increased a bit with the temperature but the wind stayed very strong for the first relay and began to subside in the second relay and then over the course of the match. At one point all the target stands had been pushed over and targets were flying from the shooting building into the woods. It was difficult to settle on a condition and to find it again.
Despite the wind some very fine shooting was witnessed with several participants shooting at least one clean target. Congrats go to Cecil H. who shot a clean 500/23X and won the match. Darryl K. also shot a clean 500/22X to come in second.
The Martin F. Topf Championship is the final rimfire benchrest match of the season for the Petitcodiac Sportmen's Club. As such it is eagerly anticipated by all and is the occasion to remember Martin T. who was a mainstay of target shooting in New Brunswick for many years. It is also includes a meal provided by the club and organized by John C. As usual, it was a time of good camaraderie for all. Many thanks to all who lent a hand.

SEPTEMBER 5, 2021 - MINTO RF AND RNBRA RIMFIRE BR CHAMPIONSHIP - RESULTS

Shooters in New Brunswick had a great day of shooting on Sunday at the Minto Gun Club ranges. We were shooting the 4th Annual RNBRA Rimfire Benchrest Championship in conditions that were almost ideal - certainly during the early relays but really throughout the match.
The sky was overcast throughout the match which made for even light and good images in our scopes. There was no rain although some guys claimed to feel a bit of moisture. The temperature was a bit on the cool side early in the match at around 6C when we left for the range and at 18C at the end of the shooting. Winds were very steady although some periods of calm occurred randomly throughout the match. Most often the wind was from the left or the right or from 12 o'clock or 6 o'clock - yes from all over - but conditions lingered for minutes at a time so we could take advantage of shooting rapid strings.
Shooters came from almost all over the province with the longest trip taken by Ted S. who arrived from Florenceville. Other shooters arrived from Saint John, Moncton, Midland, Mazzerole Settlement, Durham Bridge and other points closer to the range.
