RNBRA - UPDATE FOR JANUARY, 2015

Hello Fellow Northerners;
I hope you are enjoying time on the range with no flies. For those who are in more temperate areas you don't know what you’re missing.

One quick request before the update:
It's the New Year and your membership is due. If you haven't yet had a chance, go to RNBRA.ca and print off the applicable membership form then fill it out and get it in the mail. You'll have it done, the people that process it will thank you and you will avoid the late charge on individual memberships. (New this year). I know everyone understands this is the time to get as much of the administration work done as possible. As you know the RNBRA buys insurance for all regular members and it runs from April 1st till March 31 which is our fiscal year. Renewing your membership now will cut down on the administration and cost associated with late renewal.

11-01-2015 - PETITCODIAC - 22BR SHOOT - RESULTS

It was a great shoot to start off our provincial benchrest series in Petitcodiac. This match was a make-up match to replace the one that was cancelled due to a nasty snowstorm last week. Shooters from several clubs braved the weather to attend. The temperature started at -23C and warmed up to a cool -6C…….at least in the sun! The wood stove provided shooters comfort between relays, as they munched on the tasty sweets courtesy of

It was a good day to shoot, even though the sun was quite bright on the snow, causing a bit of mirage at times, and this was mixed with a bit of twitching light wind. Of course, it’s the Petticodiac range!

Congrats to Stephen C., our newest inductee into the 500 Club. He also shot the only 500/20X and took 1st place. Jeff M. was on hand to receive his 500 crest for an earlier shoot last year. Good stuff, guys.

10-01-2015 LAKE GEORGE GUN CLUB - FIRST .22 BR SHOOT - RESULTS

Despite the cool temperatures this morning, (-25C in my back yard), we had a successful shoot for the first of  three winter benchrest shoots at the Lake George Gun Club range. This was also the first BR shoot in the Province of New Brunswick for the 2015 season. 

The building was nice and cozy when most of us arrived, thanks to Bruce B. We started the shoot at 10:00 am under sunny skies and light winds.  As the day progressed the temperature rose along with the breeze making it a challenge for

some. The building stayed at 

about 80F and the hotdogs at 

120F and to top that off, Barb's

 banana bread made things quite comfy. 

The winners in Open Class .22 BR were Cecil H. with 400/11x and Terry McN. with 395/10x. The .22 Sporter Class was won by Wayne K. with ascore of 292/10x and Bruce B. with 276/7x .

LAKE GEORGE BENCHREST SCHEDULE AND RULES

L.G.G.C. 2015 - 22 Rimfire Winter Benchrest Rules

Registration is from 9 am until 10 am.  The shoot will start at 10 am.  The fee is $10.00.  Coffee and light lunch is included.  For each match, medals will be awarded for 1st and 2nd in each class. In order to qualify for the prizes/plaques for the entire 3 shoot series, a shooter must attend all 3 shoots.

Open Class: 

Any rifle, any sights, any ammunition and any two piece rest with not more than 4" of contact on the rifle from either bag.  The rifle cannot be clamped rigid and must be free to float.

Sporter Class: 

Restricted to low and mid priced rifles with any action.  No target rifles or any rifles with modifications (including no heavy barrels).  The cut-off price will be around the CZ bolt action and the Marlin lever action.  If there is a dispute the committee will have the final say.

Any sights (open, peep, scopes no larger than 9x but no high power scopes turned down)

No heavy barrels, barrels can only measure a max of .65" with no modifications such as tuners.

Any ammunition permitted.

Rests will be one sand bag under the front of the rifle.  No rear supports allowed other than the shooter's hand.

Targets:

There will be four targets with 10 shots for score on each.  This will result in a score out of 100 on each and a total of 400 for the match.  There will be unlimited sighters with a 10 minute time limit on each target.

Other Regulations:

Lake George Gun Club rules for competitions at this range will apply and will be strictly enforced.

MINTO: IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING .22 SPORTER CLASS

After an brief meeting of Sporter Class Shooters at the Christmas Shoot, it was decided that the Rimfire Sporter Class will continue as before with the following rules:

  Standard off-the-shelf sport/hunting rifles with rounded forestocks only. 

No stock attachments such as Benchrest plates

No barrels larger than .800 inches at the muzzle

No after-market barrels

Scopes no larger than 16 power

 Rests are to be sandbags only

The only change to Sporter Class rules is the scope power to be a maximum of 16 power. Please send to all members that there is to be an emergency general meeting at the first shoot in the new year (11^th Jan 2015) about shooting rule changes. Also on the agenda will be the scoring system for the Open Class now that they are scored separately and I have heard that they want 1 final shoot at the end of year.

THIS IS IMPORTANT: There is to be no arguing over shooting Rules and Regulations in the club house what-so- ever from this day forward. Caught and disciplinary action will take place. If there is a problem with someone’s equipment, someone on the rule committee is to be notified on the spot and appropriate action will be taken if required. Hopefully this should rectify the problems we are having.

We have to do something because the arguing has gotten out of control and the rules have gone a wwwway over board and are too complicated

We wish all members of our shooting community a great Christmas as we look forward to another year of good shooting among friends. During the upcoming year the RNBRA will continue to run historically successful shooting programs as well as investigate other programs that we may develop in order to support and grow participation from our affiliated clubs.

The RNBRA Canada Winter Games Airgun team has been selected and they now become a part of the overall NB team that will compete this winter in BC. I encourage you to offer best wishes for success to this fine Team of young shooters and the people who have worked very hard to develop and train these terrific young people.

As always I'd like to remind everyone that our website RNBRA.ca is now a useful source of much RNBRA information and is continuing to evolve but you are welcome to contact the above board with questions, concerns or input.

The updated membership forms are on the website and I encourage early renewal as there is a penalty if you leave it too late. ( see AGM minutes on our website).
