MARCH 27, 2022 - PETITCODIAC RF BENCHREST - RESULTS

Thanks to Volker T. for sending this:

"A heavy wet snow was falling in the early hours with some areas in the south accumulating up to 4 inches. And the change was over to rain. Some shooters spotted a semi tractor trailer that had slid  off into the  highway median. Nevertheless, 16 brave shooters arrived for some camaraderie and friendly competition.

It was nice to have Wayne L. attend for the  first time and returning member Steve C. As well it was good to have Darryl K. shooting for the first time since his surgery. Glad to see you all.

Temperatures ran from 0 to 5C for the  day  with light winds of 5 to 12km gusts from the SE. Manageable, but switching conditions that caught some shooters. There were a lot of Annie’s on the bench such as Brian P.’s new red 1710ACC Comp., and a couple 1761’s. Grant H. was breaking in his new Annie BR stock as well. Always nice to see new gear on the range.  So, three perfect targets were shot with others running close behind.

Thanks to all for their help in running the match and for the  Timbits  which quickly disappeared alongside the  warm wood stove. Scoresheet following.

Your Director, Volker T."

MARCH 13, 2022 - PETITCODIAC - CENTERFIRE RESULTS

Thanks to John McC. for sending this:
"Only one very hardy shooter showed up today!"

Thanks to Danny G. for sending this:
"As predicted I won the gold medal today in spite of a late start and horrendous conditions( really not so bad except for losing sight of the target from time to time ) regardless I powered through and emerged victorious!  Why only two targets you ask.....well, that’s all it took.  Guys , you missed a great day....I will admit, the roads were much better on the way home."

Thanks to Volker T. for sending this:
"You might want to add a comment to the posted report on the Blog, that the shoot was not cancelled. Only the match Director, Dan , showed up. And shot v.well too!
We are assuming weather conditions kept everyone else away.
You can tell he works for CanPost...."neither hail, nor sleet, nor snow, "etc...."

MARCH 6, 2022 - MINTO - CENTERFIRE BR - RESULTS

Thanks to Wayne K. for sending this report.
Due to weather there were only 3 die-hards that showed up to the center fire shoot last Sunday so we decided not to bother. It started to snow around 0800 and it was pretty heavy up until 1100 hrs when we left.

FEBRUARY 27, 2022 - PETITCODIAC - RIMFIRE BR - RESULTS

Thanks to Volker T. for this write-up.

Today was our first shoot of the year for PSC. Eleven shooters came out after three months rest since our last shoot.

The weather was mostly overcast with some sunshine. Average temperature was -8C, with mean  wind speed of 20km plus some gusting, which caught everyone at some point.  Even with
4 windflags and a rogue ribbon.

It was overall a good shoot and scores were close; one or two shots had a great impact on positioning. There were only 2 points separating the top 6 shooters. Good shooting, guys!
Two shooters had equipment difficulties. Thanks to Dan G. for the snow removal preparation, target frame repair, and the sweets. Charles McQ. had the stove fired up as shooters arrived.
Chris S.and Grant ran the frame and target setting. Thanks, guys.
The RO's were Chris S. and Dan G. Scorer was Volker T. and the verifier was Dan G.

DECEMBER 5, 2021 - PETITCODIAC CHRISTMAS SHOOT - RESULTS

This was the final shoot of the year for PSC. and also for all formal Benchrest shooting in our part of New Brunswick. The next time you'll see us is in 2022.

The weather was cooperative, more or less. No rain, snowstorms, nor excessive wind. The temperature was in the -6 to 0 range. And the wind was light to moderate. So the range was not overfilled with wind vanes for a change.

Both stoves were up and running. Chris S. set up the propane stove and Dan G. and his crew installed a new flu for the wood stove. Thanks, guys. Shooters were comfortable and in good spirits.

We had 22 competitors.  Four different targets were chosen by Volker T. for the shoot: "Good Luck"(a blank sheet of paper scored with a template), "Know Your Limits" (gradually descending sizes of little bulls), "Crows" (a few large crows on a fence and a whole bunch of teeny-tiny crows) and "Flies" (a whole bunch of flies and you've got to hit the heads). Shooters soon recalled the fun they had with them last year!

The winners and scores were:
"Good Luck" John M. 25 "Know Your Limits"    Bert deV.   28
"Crows"                       Cecil H.      51 "Flies"                          Dave C.     35

Many thanks to all who helped out today. Volker T. who was the match organizer and scorer; John McC. who helped with the scoring and counting. The ROs Dan G., Darryl K., and Chris S.. The target changers David C., Charles McQ., Richard., Dan G., and Brian P.
A big Thanks to John C. for acquiring the sandwich trays, setting up the kitchen and food distribution. And also to Grant, his assistant. John C. also did a fine job in wrapping the draw gifts! Thanks, ‘Santa'. Thanks also to Bruce B. for the delicious brown beans and brown rolls and kitchen help. As well to Dave C. for the best brown bread around. Thanks also to Wayne LeB. who brought cookies and to Barb J.  for her awesome sweets.

NOVEMBER 28, 2021 - MINTO - CHRISTMAS RIMFIRE SHOOT - RESULTS

Sixteen marksmen took part today in the Minto Gun Club Christmas Shoot . The strong wind was ever present which caused a few problems along with the cold temperature. Nevertheless, everyone enjoyed themselves, especially, at lunchtime.
Thanks to the cooks for the delicious chili, beans, brown bread, rolls, banana bread, and mincemeat pies. Dave presented medals and cash to Bruce and Wayne L. in the Open Class and to John M. and Norbert in the Sporter Class. A monetary gift was given to Barb which was greatly appreciated.
The drive to and from Minto today was like a Winter Wonderland. Thanks to our firemen the Clubhouse was very cozy. Even with Covid Rules, thanks to everyone for making it a wonderful year of shooting with friends in Minto. Merry Christmas!!!
