08-09-2013 - 22BR SHOOT PETITCODIAC - RESULTS

 Well, it started out as a damp day with some occasional rain and overcast skies. The temperature was a cool 14 C. Luckily for the first couple of hours there was hardly any wind and the scores reflected the early conditions - to most of the 17 shooters' delight.

Then . . . the sky opened up and we thought we were getting a hurricane. Very heavy rain and strong winds. All the wind indicators blew over first and within a few minutes all six target frames fell over despite having been weighted down! Shooting was delayed for a little time while the target frames were reset. Then suddenly, the winds became better and the rain subsided. It was interesting to say the least!

 Because it was cool, the stove had been lit and was kept going for a short while. Due to a lack of dry firewood, shooters periodically encountered some smokey visions of their targets. All - in all it was a shoot to remember.

Despite all this, some very good scores were recorded. In particular, Mike H. set this year's high score for the entire 22BR series! Congratulations! In addition, several shooters managed to get into high scores with a high X count. You know it was a special shoot when 14 out of 17 shooters shot 490 out of 500 or better.

For this shoot, Volker T. was the Match Director and target scorer. Carl J., Bruce B., Dan G. and John L. were the target setters and changers. Barb J. and Shelly C. brought their wonderful treats while Darryl K. was the accomplished photographer. Many thanks to all for their help.

Please note that the next 22BR Shoot will be the Season's Final with qualifying shooters vying for money prizes. This will take place on October 6th, 2013. Notices are being sent by John C. to those that have qualified. If you have not qualified, you may still shoot the match and partake of all the festivities and lunch - normal fees will apply and you will not shoot for cash prizes. Come out and have some fun.

25-08-2013 CENTERFIRE SHOOT - PETITCODIAC - RESULTS

It was a great day on the range for the 16 shooters who attended today. The weather was ideal at 25 C with lots of sun, no flies and only a bit of wind - the scores reflected the conditions.  

It was a special sort of shoot with shooters ranging in age from 21 to 92 years - it is good to attract the younger shooter but it is really super to have amongst us such a wealth of experience.



George C. and Volker T. break the 300 barrier - again!

Today was the last of the CF series before the Finals. It was a tight race to the top and two shooters were able to break the magic 300 barrier today. Congratulations to George C. and Volker T. It looks like there will be some good shooting at the Final CF Championship Shoot-Off on September 22.

Today's 22BR match was a hotly contested affaire with 18 shooters attending. Some very nasty winds were reported - some that lasted for 5 minutes at a stretch.

Today's shoot was on a beautiful sunny day but with erratic winds that affected the scores.

Today's shoot was unusual for Petitcodiac with near perfect shooting weather. It was not too hot, not much wind and hardly any bugs. Shelly C. brought her famous sweets and Dan G. brought Tim's best.

21-07-2013 MINTO CENTERFIRE/HANDGUN SHOOT - RESULTS

Today was the nicest day we have had in over half a month. The sun was out but the temperature hovered around 25 C. In addition there was a cooling wind that felt good but it played havoc with the shooting. No rain, no humidity - we couldn't ask for more.

Wayne K. was the Match Director and scored the targets with Don M. verifying. Dave C. changed the targets. Dave C. and Gerry J. were the ROs for the match. Many thanks to all who made the match possible.

14-07-2013 PETITCODIAC 22BR SHOOT

 Well, it was the hottest day of the Benchrest shoot circuit to date - 35C in the afternoon and almost 30C inside the shooting hut where the benches are. The humidity was very high and we were harassed by a band of "Bandito Deer Flies"!

But . . . the wind gods were kinds to us for a change with only occasional light breezes supplemented with short bursts of quiet air flow.

AND the scores were close! 

It was good to see some new shooters who shot sporting rifles with lower power scopes which made it challenging for them to compete against higher power scopes. They enjoyed themselves and did well - these targets are a challenge for any shooter - the bulls are so small.

Sweets almost melted in the heat - thanks to Shelly and Carl for bringing them. What would a BR shoot be with them eh? Thanks also to Grant Jr. for making the Tim's Coffee run for us.

2013 ANNUAL 100YD TEAM SHOOT IN MINTO - RESULTS

On July 13, we continued the annual rivalry among the three clubs: Petitcodiac, Minto and Lake George. This year the competition was between the first two clubs(Petit and Minto) who sent shooters to the match. It is clear that everyone had a terrific time together. It was an excellent day to be on the range even though it was very hot and the wind was cruel to all the shooters.

 As can be seen in the picture, Barbara J. was the cook and had brought her famous deserts while Terry McN. was the supervising chef. All accounts report that the food was great - succulent hot dogs and hamburgs.

Wayne K. was the Match Director and scored the targets. Norbert S., with help from Carl J. and Darryl K., ran the range safely and efficiently. Terry McN., Dave C. and Dan G. changed the targets - hot work!!

 All were happy to see Martin come out to shoot.
