OCTOBER 20, 2019 - MINTO - RIMFIRE FUN SHOOT

After a long season of shooting everyone sort of expects things to go a certain way. Usually we know who scores, who is the match director etc. Not today - today was a "fun shoot" and several people were not present. As a result, no-one knew who was directing the shoot and what targets to use. 
Thankfully, Wayne K. stepped up to be the Match director and we decided to shoot a regular rimfire match. Wayne also was the head scorer and Dale H. volunteered to be the score verifier. The targets were set and changed by Bert deV., George M., Bruce B., Mike C. and John M. The ROs were Conrad L., Mike C., David C., Darryl K. and Bert deV. Coffee and do-nuts were brought by Bill H., Wayne K., and David C.
Just as we were finishing the last relay, President David C. brought out some fun targets - crows - each worth 10 points for a head shot, (less for other shots and nothing for a miss). Needless to say, this changed the water on the beans. The first relay was blessed with 3 guys crossfiring which knocked them out of the competition. Other relays did better but those who shot well in the rimfire match were no longer winners after the crows were done! Conclusion? Crow targets are a great asset to democracy and a fine way for the whole club to have "fun".

OCTOBER 12, 2019 - PETITCODIAC FUN SHOOT

Well, it wasn't a fun weather day. The temp was 9C and rain. Miserable weather, but the shooters still had fun with a variety of old and new fun targets. Plinking style, but still challenging.  Especially the "Black Death", renamed to Least Squares, and a new "Bat" target just for Halloween. Some shooters even wanted to ban the Black Death due to its deceiving qualities! It's a tough one to shoot well.
And the wind was moderate, but still mischievous as shooters found out. Shots going elsewhere from planned. Thanks to all who helped out with wet target duty and Range Officering. Thanks to Volker T. for the write-up and pics and thanks to Darryl K. for the pics as well.

OCTOBER 6, 2019 - MINTO CF CHAMPIONSHIP - RESULTS

The fall is definitely here in New Brunswick with bright and vivid displays of leaves all over the province and with a -4C temperature recorded first thing in the morning on our way to the range. The little 
frost on the windshield came off quickly with the scraping. A fore-cast of 16C for the afternoon raised the expectation of a fine centerfire championship shoot. When we arrived Wayne K. had already warmed up the clubhouse with a fire in the stove (welcome indeed for some old bones).
The attendance was a bit disappointing with only a portion of our regular shooters present. This was due to some competing shooting in other places in the province (and 
maybe the cool morning). We were happy to have a visit to the range by Nine C., (Bert's sister), during her tour of the province.


Today, Don M. was the match director and also the head scorer. Wayne K. was the score verifier and helped with
stats. The targets were changed by Bruce B., Mike C. and Ben F. The Range Officers were David C., Ben F. and Bert deV. The wonderful banana bread, drinks and the sandwiches for our lunch were brought by David C. Thanks to all who lent a hand today to make this an enjoyable event for our shooters.
