This was the 7th Annual Provincial Rimfire Benchrest Championship hosted for the first time by the Petitcodiac Sportsman's Club outside of Moncton, New Brunswick. Many people were involved in the organization of this match, many of whom are noted below. We want to add the organizational efforts of John C. and the liaison role with the RNBRA capably carried out by Conrad L. Thanks from all of us.
The course of fire was different for the two classes - Open and Sporter. Open class consisted of 2 target sheets of 25 small bulls typically shot at Petitcodiac for Rimfire BR matches with one shot for score on each. This resulted in a possible high score of 500/50X. Although no clean targets were shot during this match, the three top shooters lost only one point. This was due probably to the wind conditions which were described by one shooter as a "twisty split wind on half of the range floor at a time - from the south west".
The Sporter Class match was shot on the target sheet normally used by the Minto Gun Club for its Sporter class shoots and consisted of 2 sheets of 20 small bulls with one counting shot on each. This resulted in a high possible score of 400/40X. We congratulate Volker T. who shot a clean Sporter match with a score of 400/18X.
Halfway though the match all shooters were served a lunch at the clubhouse with our thanks going to Grant H. for organising this meal.
After the match 2 sets of medals were awarded - the first consisting of the club medals for first, second and third place shooters in Open Class (as this shoot was a regularly scheduled club match as well as the provincial championship). The second set of medals were the provincial RNBRA medals provided for first and second place winners in both classes.
