Yesterday was our first taste of hot, humid weather. It was 35C and with the humidex it felt close to 40C. Today was forecast to be much of the same. The morning started at about 20C at 7:00am. Driving to Petitcodiac was automatically and comfortably controlled by the vehicle but we sure felt it when we arrived and got out of the car. Our cooler equipment was quickly coated with a film of condensed moisture as we brought it to the shooting building.
So it was hot and sweaty - some felt it more than others - but no-one complained as we remembered all too well the very recent last twitching of winter's tail. It remained cloudy but fairly bright throughout the match - thank goodness for that as a full sun would have increased the temperature even more. Things cooled down quickly on the way home as we drove in rain all the way.
The conditions also included almost no wind for most of the shooting. Yes, there was some wind, but it was fairly rare and certainly not very strong. It may have been a bit trickier for us to shoot without wind - as we are much more used to a really good dose of it here in New Brunswick. At any rate, some good scores were recorded today. Congrats to Cecil H. who won with a clean 300/21X. Also to Bert deV. who shot a 300/18X. We all send best wishes to our good friend John McC., and hope for a speedy recovery from his recent operation.
