The first Centerfire Match in Minto was shot with near perfect conditions and 11 guys were on hand to enjoy every minute of it. The temperature started at 0C but during the day, rose to a balmy 5 or 6C. The sun was behind a good cloud cover which made the light perfect for peering through a high power scope to see the little holes at 100 yds. During the night it had snowed a bit and the roads, going to the range, were a bit snowy and slushy - definitely "drive slow" conditions.
The winds were benign with at most a 10km/hr wind blowing pretty steadily from left to right across the range with only occasionally a switch to up-range. The maximum effect was only 1/4 inch at 100yds - so very manageable. Despite this, some fellows were caught shooting during a switch with unhappy results - others were a bit luckier.
Today, the Match Director was Dave C who also scored each target with Don M. verifying the scores and stats. Targets were changed by John McC. with help from Gus C., Dan G., Darryl K., Bert deV. and John M. The ROs were Darryl K., Norbert S., Terry McN and Bert deV. Many thanks to all for making this an enjoyable match.
There was also a Handgun shoot with 3 guys trying out their pistols. Terry McN. was the Director and target changer for this, Dave C. the scorer with Wayne K. and John McC. doing the RO-ing.
