APRIL 26, 2015 - PETITCODIAC 22BR MATCH - RESULTS
Today's shoot at Petitcodiac was well attended with 20 shooters on hand. This required 4 different relays of 30 minutes each - times two - for a total of 50 counting shots fired. Lots of waiting for everyone - time well spent in talking about the new wind flags, the scores shot, the wind (or lack thereof) and updating what's happening with our friends and shooting colleagues.
The weather started out quite cold with temperatures around the freezing mark. It gradually got a little warmer but not up to the predicted 10C. The winds were really very mild for Petitcodiac but treated each relay differently. The first 2 relays had no wind at all while later relays had a variety of cross winds and down range winds - but still only about 5km/hr in gusts with lots of quiet periods. The last relay of the day had to deal with fairly heavy rain showers and longer periods of calm winds. All-in-all a cold that chilled you to the bone but for the stove that was kept cozy hot by several of the shooters.
These conditions helped us to record some very respectable scores including 9 "possible" targets of 250 points. Special congratulations to Cecil H. (26X) and Barb J. (20X) who each shot 500 for the match and entered the exalted Petitcodiac 500 Club - Barb for the very first time. Good shooting friends! Congratulations also go to Don M. who just had cataract surgery, tried out a new BRNO target rifle and shot with new ammo - and still shot a very respectable 490/14X.
Thanks go to whole host of people who made this match possible and enjoyable. Dan G. was the Match Director and Scorer while Shelly C. verified the scoring. The RSOs were Dan G., Terry McN., Carl J. and Bruce B. The targets were changed by several shooters including Shelly C., Brian P., Terry McN., Logan G., and Guy H. The delicous treats, cookies and banana bread were brought by Shelly C. and Barb J. Thank you all. Oh yeah, we missed Volker T who was home with a cold. Get better soon Volker.

April 19, 2015 - MINTO - CENTERFIRE SHOOT - RESULTS
It was a pretty good day for a Centerfire Benchrest Shoot in Minto with temperatures around 6C in the morning going up to about 10C once the sun came out. At first it was very cloudy with almost no winds - an unusual thing for Minto. As the day wore on, the cloud cover dissipated and the sun came out with resulting increased winds - although they still remained quite mild with only occasionally a gust getting up to 10-15Km/hr.
A good number of shooters came out (12) - many shooting both Open and Sporter classes. Clearly we all enjoyed getting re-acqainted - those that had hibernated during the winter - and we certainly enjoyed the shooting despite the occasional cross fire that led to some extended talk at the bench. Some very good scores were posted, most notably Terry McN. who scored the only perfect score at 300 with 22 Xs. Congrats to Terry - good shooting!
Today's shoot was quarterbacked by Match Director Wayne K. who also did the scoring with Don M. verifying the scores. Bruce B. was the chief RO with Bert deV. filling in for some of the relays. A large and mottly crew consisting of Conrad L., Gerry J., Bruce B., Grant P. Jr., Ron M., John McC. and Terry McN. went down the range several times to change targets. Many thanks to all who helped out.

APRIL 12, 2015 - PETITCODIAC CENTERFIRE SHOOT - RESULTS
A good number of motivated shooters (18 in all) were on hand for the first centerfire match in Petitcodiac in April. Some even came out of hibernation after a long winter break - even though the winter is not yet over in New Brunswick. It was time to shake off some the accumulated rust and cobwebs - evident in the scores and in that some of the shooters had new equipment that had not been tried or zero-d-in. A few guys left the match early because of this.
It's been an unusual spring with
snow banks still up to 3 feet in many places - and it's mid-April!. There was still lots of snow on the range although some places had melted and were becoming quite muddy.
It was nice to see deer coming out of the woods to graze on the sides of the highway on the way down to the range. Unfortunately, we also saw several road-kill animals, racoons, groundhogs and one deer - seems like one of the costs of getting longer days and warmer weather.
It was a wonderful Spring day with temperatures ranging up to about 12 degrees at the end of the match. Nice and warm in the sun and even under the roof of the firing points gloves and hats were not a necessity. The sun was out for the whole match which gave some problems to some shooters as it glared off the snow - lots of comments and complaints. Targets were a bit
hard to see especially when a shot had been fired and the hole produced a bright spot at the aiming point. During the last relays, a bit of cloud gave the occasional relief so shooters could see targets without too much glare.
The match was a bit late in starting. Dan G. stepped up to organize it when Volker T. could not come as he had hurt his wrist during a fall on ice. Thanks Dan, for taking the job of Match Director and Scorer. Thanks also to Shelly C. for being the score verifier. The Target Changers were Shelley C., John McC. and Brian P. while the set up was done by Dan G. and Cecil H. The ROs were Bruce B., Terry McN. and John McC. Thanks to all and finally, thanks to Shelley C. and Dan G. for bringing the irresistable treats. The sugar rush was appreciated.
Winds were quite light during the first relay - about 5km/hr and gradually picked up during the match. They were a bit tricky in that they were not steady and switched from side to side although predominately up and down range.
RESULTS:
Brian P. - 297/14X
Cecil H. - 297/11X
Dan G. - 297/10X (on count back)
