Today the story really was about the intensity of the sun on the white snow and on the target sheets. The glare was brutal and sometimes the mirage waves off the target sheets made it impossible to see the 10 ring - much less the centre dot. Many shots had to to be made after a substantial wait for the mirage to lift. This happened when the wind picked up across the range. Unfortunately, the wind was mostly from up-range which did not clear the mirage as well. So often the shot was made by guessing at the centre a formula which often worked well but which occasionally cost the shooter a point. It was certainly costly in terms of shooting 10Xs. Nevertheless, we did have some good luck and the scores were not at all bad considering the conditions. Congrats to Bert deV. who shot a 300/12X.
