It was another great day for a shoot in New Brunswick. The temperature was about 6C - a little cool for this time of year but better than hot and muggy. The temperature climbed throughout the day and on the way home it was warm enough to enjoy some ice-cream. It remained sunny after the initial mist was burned off and there was no hint of rain.
The wind was, of course, the story in Minto. Normally the wind is very, very challenging in Minto, but this time it was
quite benign with an occasional gust. However, it was all over the range with frequent switches. Most winds came from 9:00, 6:00 and 3:00 o'clock so some holding over was necessary.
The conditions led to some very nice shooting and congrats are due to Mike C. who shot 400/25X, Bert deV. who shot 400/18X, Bill H. who shot 400/16X, Cecil H. who shot 400/15X and Gerard who shot 400/10X. Good shooting guys!
Today, the match director was Don M. who also scored the match with help from Wayne K. The CRO was Barb J. and the ROs were Mike C., Conrad L., George M., Volker T., Dale H., Matt McA. and Bert deV. The target changing crew consisted of Ben F., Shawn R., George M., David C., and Mike C. The food, treats and coffee were brought by Barb J. and David C. Thanks to all who helped out today.

AUGUST 18, 2019 - PETITCODIAC CENTERFIRE BR - RESULTS
I guess some fellows like shooting Centerfire BR whether or not it is raining cats and dogs.
That really was the story of this match - rain! We needed the rain in New Brunswick - so it was welcome and it didn't really ruin our enjoyment of the day. Along with lots of rain, there was almost no wind until the last relay but it was easy to wait for a quiet condition to return
Today, the match director was Dan G. who also did the scoring with the verification done by John C. Dan G. was also the chief (and only range officer) and brought the Timbits - a welcome addition to any shoot. Targets were changed mostly by Malcolm McA. assisted a little by Bert deV. Thanks for your help fellows.
Congrats go to Dan G. who shot a 300/25X and who tied the Petitcodiac Centerfire record and also shot the year's high match score in Centerfire. Pretty darn good shooting! Also to Bert deV. and Cecil H. who shot 300/21X and 300/16X respectively.

AUGUST 17, 2019 - MINTO - 2nd ANNUAL RNBRA RIMFIRE CHAMPIONSHIPS
August 17, 2019 turned out to be a pretty nice day for a RNBRA Annual Rimfire Benchrest Championship shoot - an opportunity for all benchrest shooters in the province to show off their smallbore skills. Although we missed several shooters from both the north and the south of the province, we had a good crowd come out to the Minto ranges from the middle areas of New Brunswick.
Even the weather was in favour of shooting a big match today. Yes, there was a forecast for some rain later in the day and it did sprinkle a little before we started the match. But this amounted to very little and was not a factor with David C's. quick intervention to put up a tarp which shielded the shooters who would be shooting outside. So, for the entire match we had only occasional misting but no rain. The sky remained overcast which allowed for even light for sighting and shooting.
For the first half of the match there was absolutely no movement in the wind flags and the scores (HPS = 200/20X), did reflect this condition. There were 15 shooters who lost 1 point or less. The second half of the match (also 200/20X) did have some flag movement due to the wind, but performance was not diminished with 17 shooters losing only 1 point or less. This is rarely seen in Minto as the wind usually costs shooters dearly.
Many people lent a hand today to make this match a successful one. Conrad L. was the Match Director (and chairman of the organizing committee and liason between the Minto Gun Club and the RNBRA. Don M. organised the relays and shooting positions and also scored the entire match with Dale H. verifying the scoring and statistics. Bruce B. was responsible for changing all the targets with help from George M. The food for the wonderful lunch was obtained and prepared by Wayne K. and Barb J. brought her wonderful breads. David C. brought the coffee. Bert deV. was the CFO and the ROs for the match were Barb J., Bill H., John M., George M., Mike C. and David C. Thank you so much everybody! This match could not have held without your help.

AUGUST 11, 2019 - MINTO CENTERFIRE BR - OPEN AND SPORTER
Well, we have definitely put the extreme heat and humidity of summer behind us - for now. We had a beautiful day in Minto for a centerfire benchrest shoot with temperatures starting at about 14C during our drive to the range. It remained a bit cooler today at a high of 21C, with occasionally a threat of rain or even thunder showers. This did not happen until the drive home when we had sudden cloud-bursts with mostly bright sun.
The wind remained fairly steady from the left throughout the match. There was really no difference in wind conditions among the 3 relays. The strength of the wind ranged from 0 - 15 kph and waiting for one's condition to return was definitely the way to go today.
Although there were not as many shooters today as we were used to, we all had a great time. Don M. was the match director and head scorer with Wayne K. verifying the scoring and stats. The range officers were David C., Conrad L. and Mike C. Mike C. was the head target changer with Guy H., David C. and Tony L. lending a hand. David C. also provided the coffee and a wonderful ginger cake made by his sister. Many thanks to all.
We also had the raffle for the Electropoint Sight which had been donated by Hirsch Precision. Wayne K. was the lucky winner!!

AUGUST 5, 2019 - MISSION BC - BRSC NATIONALS OF CANADA
Joe Mendham, BRSC National Champion |
AUGUST 4, 2019 - PETITCODIAC RIMFIRE BR - RESULTS
We want to thank Darryl for sending pictures and give a big welcome to our friend John McC. who was at his first match after surgery.
The past 2-3 weeks in New Brunswick have been hot (above 30C) and humid (with humidex close to 40C on several days). Today there was a break in the temperature with the high in the mid-twenties and humidity much more manageable. It was a very enjoyable day and attending the last regular Rimfire BR
shoot in the Petitcodiac schedule made it all the more enjoyable.
Not only was the temperature and humidity to our liking, but the sun was out for most of the day and the wind, though sometimes a bit tricky, was relatively benign.
Wind velocity, with very few exceptions, remained in the 10-15km/hr range. Sometimes it would drop off entirely and it looked like a "no-wind" condition. Other times it did give us a nice little burst of speed which did not last long and that was actually welcome as it moved some fresh air
through the shooting building. There was plenty of time and lots of repetition of wind conditions, so waiting for one's condition was not a hard challenge today.
The scores reflected the conditions with 10 shooters scoring 498 or better.
Pretty good shooting eh? We also had 4 shooters who shot clean targets with Darryl K. shooting 500/29X; Bert deV. shooting 500/26X; Cecil H. shooting 500/23X and Matt McA. shooting 500/20X. Congrats guys - nice shooting today.
Volker T. was the match director and head scorer with Dan G. verifying the scores and stats. The ROs were Dan G., Darryl K., and Bert deV. Targets were changed by Bruce B., John M., Bert deV., Mike C., Brian P., Cecil H., Dan G. and David C. Barb J. again spoiled us with her wonderful cinnamon and banana breads. Thanks to everyone who helped out today!
