It was a terrific day for a very enjoyable shoot in Petitcodiac. The weather cooperated wonderfully with a warm sunshine throughout the entire match. The wind also was favourable in that it was very light and generally up-range or slightly from left to right. There was lots of time to wait for the conditions to return. As a result, this match was very tight with some very nice targets shot. Congratulations go to Shelly C. who won the match with her very first perfect target score of 300/10X. It was also very nice to welcome Darren B. to his first benchrest match. His shooting was very good for the first time out and we will see much more of him in future we hope. Today, Dan G. was the match director and also the head scorer with John McC. doing the verifying. Targets were changed by John McC., Shelly C. and Bert de V. while Tom N. and Bert deV. were the range officers for the match. Shelly C. brought her delicious squares for all to enjoy - none were left at the end of the match for Don M. to take home.

It was a wonderful day for a shoot - sure it started out with a bit of rain during the drive to the range but this stopped and it stayed dry for the rest of the day. It stayed overcast and probably a bit cool for this time of year until about noon. Then it became humid and warm and very buggy. We became bug fodder for most of the match. The wind was variable but most right to left in the early part of the match while it became calmer and mostly down range for the last relays.
We had hoped for 4 teams shooting - Minto, Petitcodiac, Lake George and Florenceville. Unhappily, we had just the teams from Minto and Petitcodiac on hand and missed the others. Today, John McC. was the organizer of the shooting as the match director. Don M. was the head scorer with Dan G. doing the verifying. Wayne K., who had also done the shopping for everything needed for this match, was the head BBQ chef. Everyone loved his hamburgers and the onions were a hit. Many thanks for the giant efforts on our behalf you guys! The ROs for this match were John McC., Tony L. and Bert deV. while the targets were changed by a large crew of volunteers including John McC., Chris S., George M., Guy H. and Bert deV. The treats were thanks to Bill H. who brought donuts, Guy H. who brought a cake, John McC. who brought Dorothy's terrific biscuits and the Minto Gun Club which provided the makings for a fine lunch. Thanks to all of you for making this a fun occasion. Honours were hotly contested by the two teams. This year it was Minto's turn to shine with a 1 point victory over Petitcodiac (X count gap was a little larger). Even though more than enough shooters participated, the 4 highest scores were used to calculate the team standings as will be seen below: RESULTS - TEAM MINTO: 1182/64X Bert deV. - 298/19X Bill H. - 298/14X John McC. - 297/14X Don M. - 289/15X Wayne K. - 266/6X Mack McD. - 196/4X RESULTS - TEAM PETITCODIAC: 1181/40X Dan G. - 299/14X Volker T. - 296/13X Darryl K. - 294/7X Tony L. - 292/6X Chris S. - 276/2X
It was a pretty nice day for a shoot - overcast for most of the match with a little shower about half-way through. The temperature remained mild and the winds were tricky but still quite manageable. The wind was mainly from left to right with the typical switches to down-range and no more than 20km/hr. It even stopped for periods during the match.

At our last shoot the cards for the raffle of the brick of SK STANDARD PLUS were sold out and the draw was made by the vice-president of the club. The winner of this draw was Mike C.
We thank Peter Dobson of Hirsch Precision for his generous donation which allows us to raise some funds for our club so that we can make range improvements.
