JUNE 15, 2025 - PETITCODIAC - ANNUAL RIMFIRE TEAM SHOOT - RESULTS

Two club teams arrived at PSC for the annual 100yd Team Shoot -
Petitcodiac Sportsmen and Lake George. Unfortunately, the Minto Gun
Club did not participate this year. We missed them and hope they can
participate next year.
As usual, all shooters present were able to compete but only the top four
scores from each club formed the club team score, (indicated by asterix below).
The weather was nice with temperatures in the 20C-24C range for the
day, with relatively clear skies. The winds were light, but challenging for
this 100yd distance. Shooting 100yd is a different game as compared to the
usual 50yd benchrest matches. It always makes for an interesting and
challenging match.
As some shooters experienced, there were times when the wind dropped down,
but those calm spells did not always guarantee perfect shots.
Volker T. was match director and scorer with Dan G. verifying. Various other
members assisted with target setting and posting - thanks to all. Firing
line sweets were courtesy of Bruce B., Dale H. and Richard M - thanks
guys. Grant H. ensured that we would have a good lunch for the noon
break. Thanks also to the two range officers - Chris S. and John McC.
In the end, it was a close match separating first from second, with only a 7ptx13
difference. This year, the bragging rights go to Team Petitcodiac with a total score
of 1518x54 while Team Lake George scored 1507x41.
Congrats to the top three medal winners: 1st - John McC., 2nd - John M., and 3rd - Dale H.

JUNE 8, 2025 - MINTO CENTERFIRE BR - RESULTS

It was a beautiful late spring day in New Brunswick, Canada, when just a handful of shooters came out to enjoy a centerfire match. Temperatures started around 13C early in the morning and, by the end of the day, it was a very nice 22C.
Although, early in the morning, the clouds that brought a lot of rain in the previous days still lingered, by the end of the first relay, these had disapeared and the remainder of the day stayed sunny. For some shooters this produced some glare and mirage around the targets but for the most part the sight picture was bright and clear.

The wind though was a bit of a headache starting out as a right to left wind predominantly at about 10-20km/hr. Over the course of the match it became switching right to left and the complete reverse with rarely a pause between. It was very difficult to predict and often switching while sighting before the shot was made.

Only one clean match was shot today with congrats going to Cecil H. with a score of 300/20X in open class.

MAY 25, 2025 - MINTO - RIMFIRE OPEN/SPORTER - RESULTS

Thanks to Dale H. for sending the results and write-up.
Boy - oh - Boy! This has been some spring for weather - kind of depressing even for New Brunswick. Everyday, it seems, has been cold, dark and a lot of rain has fallen. This is true for today as well when we all gathered in Minto for a semi-annual meeting and a rimfire match afterwards.

The temperature this morning , when we started out for the range , was about 6C and this increased to about 10C by the time the match ended. It rained, off and on, for most of the day with no sunny periods at all. The wind was from the left at about 10-20km/hr for the early half of the match and then became switching - left to right - for the second half of the match.
RELAY # 1
Despite this, we were all eager to shoot and enjoy the company of our fellow shooters.
Scores were generally pretty good for the conditions. Congrats go to Cecil H. who shot a clean 400/19X in Open class and to Wayne LeB. who shot a very fine 400/23X in Sporter class.
RELAY # 2
We welcomed a new shooter in our midst. Shane M. came out and observed the activities - hopefully learning some good things along the way.
RELAY # 3
On more of a sad note - Barb J. informed me that our good friend George M. was involved in a car accident on the way home. He is recuperating in hospital. We wish him the best and a speedy recovery.

caught a lot of shooters by surprise ðŸ˜¢." Thanks also to Chris S. who
sent pics and says "great shooting and scores today - in nasty twisty winds ðŸ¤«."
Thanks also to Danny G. for the write-up. "It was a decent enough day yesterday for our .22 Benchrest shoot in Petitcodiac.   The wind was a bit snappy but if you could be patient the right condition might present itself, lol !   Not a lot of rain after we started and only one shower of any consequence on the way home".
Two shooters shot 500’s with good X counts - congrats to Chris S. who shot a very fine 500/28X and to Grant H. who shot a 500/22X - and there were four 499’s posted as well.

MAY 4, 2025 - PETITCODIAC - CENTERFIRE TEAM SHOOT - RESULTS

Thanks to Darryl K. and Danny G. for these results, pics and write-up.
This year, two teams competed for the coveted CF TEAM Trophy: The Minto Gun Club and The Petitcodiac Sportsmen's Club. Congratulations go to Team Petitcodiac for a very fine win!
TEAM MINTO = 1177/55X
TEAM PETITCODIAC - 1199/62X
Attendance was a bit lower than expected for the annual Centerfire Team shoot in Petitcodiac. Eleven shooters did participate in rainy but not unbearable conditions and shot some pretty decent scores.   After a little reorganization to distribute shooters a bit more equitably, we started the first relay and continued through the first two before breaking for lunch.   Returning from the Clubhouse after a 45 minute break we shot the third and last target.
Then we returned to the Clubhouse for the awards presentations.  Congrats are due to the top three individual shooters today. Don M. with a score of 300/24X;  Malcolm McA. - 300/19X; John McC. - 300/16X.  Additionally congrats are due to Tony L. who, after so many shots downrange, earned his 300 CF Club badge today.
Danny G., as match director, would like to thank everyone who helped out as well - (which was everyone). We couldn’t pull it off without your help -  seriously!

Thanks to Darryl K. and Barb J. for these results and pics.
Darryl sends the following comments about the conditions:  "It was a bit of a nasty day - right from the start - hard winds and rain. Most winds from the right side of the range, switching quickly. As the scores reflect, just one shooter shot a clear 200 target."

APRIL 20, 2025 - PETITCODIAC - CENTERFIRE BR, OPEN - RESULTS

Thanks to Danny G. for these results, the write-up and pics.

There were only six combatants at today’s Easter Sunday Centerfire match in Petitcodiac.  Considering the holiday and the weather we were lucky to see anyone!  It was mostly sunny but the real story of conditions was that the wind was horrendous.  It was very strong and never travelled in the same direction for longer than a couple of seconds.  Still we had good fun and, although there were some disappointments, the good shots were awesome. A very interesting day!

PEOPLE TO THANK:
Danny G. was the match director and scorer with John McC. acting as score verifier. Everyone else chipped in where needed to chase wind swept targets and right-tipped target frames.

Thanks to David C. for sending these results.
David says that only the Sporter Class Centerfire was shot today with 4 shooters taking part. It was not a good day for shooting as it was cold and damp with winds in the 15 to 20km/hr range. I'm sure everyone had a good time together.

APRIL 6, 2025 - PETITCODIAC RIMFIRE BR - OPEN - RESULTS

Thanks to Volker T. for these results and pics.
The weather was miserable en route to and at the range. The temperature ranged from -1 to +3C with overcast skies and cold rain present most of the time.
Winds of 10-30km/hr were mostly from the south. There were some calm periods that shooters tried to take advantage of before it disappeared.
All in all, scores were close and quite good. Congrats to Dale H. who shot a clean match with a score of 500/12X.
PEOPLE TO THANK

MARCH 30, 2025 - MINTO - RIMFIRE BR - OPEN/SPORTER - RESULTS

It is springtime in New Brunswick but you wouldn't know it when looking at the snow and plow trucks outside. We have had 3 pretty good storms here since March 21st and it has been cold and dark most days.

So when the opportunity for a shoot on a nice day arose, everyone hopped into their cars with all their gear and drove to Minto for the first Rimfire BR match in 2025 that wasn't cancelled. Some of us brought new equipment and some were testing different ammo. Whatever can be said about the results, we had a lot of fun shooting and getting together with friends.
RELAY #1
The day started off with the temperature hovering around -11C and by the time the match was done, it was a balmy +3C. The sun was out from time to time and shooters gathered in little clumps to catch up on the news and soak up some sunrays.
RELAY #2
The wind was the real story today when it came to shooting accurately. It was literally all over the place. During the first relay, when it was still fairly cool, it was predominantly from the right at about 5-10km/hr. This pattern quickly deteriorated to switching winds from all directions with occasionally some quiet periods thrown in for good measure. We were thankful that it hadn't picked up any speed.
RELAY #3
Welcome to new BR shooter, Mike B., who has been a member of the Minto Gun Club for quite a while.
After the match and the scoring was completed all gathered for the award presentations. First up was the presentation of annual shooting awards that could not be presented at the Christmas shoot last year. Congrats to Volker T. and Gerald D.
